While we have only seen a small sampling of AMD's socket based CPUs, we have seen and heard of far too many Athlon Thunderbird processors and KT133 motherboards dying.

As for AMD, we have spoken with several corporate IT and IT consultants who have all told us essentially the same thing. They have invariably said that, if you recommend an Intel solution and it fails, few will question your recommendation, but if you recommend an AMD solution and it fails, many people would question your recommendation and you could easily lose face or business, and possibly your job. To paraphrase what an IT consultant once said to me, unless you have a compelling reason to recommend something other than Intel, you just cannot take the gamble of recommending something else. It's like the old line, "Nobody ever got fired for recommending IBM."

I think sharky is misinterpreting this or something. I would take it as meaning that either one is just as likely to fail, but when AMDs do fail people get more mad because they are biased towards intel like sharky.

This shouldn't come as a suprise to anyone. Think about it; who hires these IT consultants? People who lack even the most basic hardware knowlege. Not only can they not set up or maintain their networks, they can't even assemble a PC, which is like Legos only simpler. These poor bastards are ignorant in a way that is often difficult to fathom. How could they know so little? Where have they been all these years? What were they doing?!? At any rate, these perpetually-behind-the-PC-learning-curve people do indeed think this way. They don't understand jack about hardware, but believe that they do. If you're an IT consultant, you have to cater to these people. Eventually they will catch up with the times, and start talking about how great AMD is. And if by chance Intel is back on top by then, they won't be aware of it, since they don't keep up with current events.

I have been tolerating their BS for some time now because of the content of other kinds of reviews (video card, games systems, etc) have been acceptable.

I have made several posts in their article forum trying to engage the authors in some reasonable discussion about what makes them believe the things they write thinking that perhaps I might glean some previously unknown issue with AMD systems that only Sharky's knows about (like Tom's PIII 1.13Ghz bug).

All the inquiries go unanswered. In the P4 article I asked the author why Sharky's only ran benchmarks that made the P4 look good when so many other sites had a mix of good benchmarks and bad benchmarks for the P4 (ie a complete lack of FPU limited applications). The reply was that Sharky (Alex) determined the benchmarks that would be published so ask him .... I did. No reply.

My only conclusion is that THEY ARE GETTING PAID to publish only positive things about Intel. This is unforgivable. I took them off my favorite list and vow never to return after this last article. I know many here have done the same, but I thought I would attempt a intelligent exchange with the site leaders to try to get their point of view ..... waste of time. They are bought and paid for.

Sharky's has become Intel's prostitute. I for one am going to avoid getting any sexually transmitted diseases from them from now on by a simple practice of abstinence.

I cringe at the thought of the thousands of people researching computer hardware for the first time who unfortunately stumble upon SharkyExtreme and take his site's patently backward information as fact. How incredibly irresponsible to write such garbage and pass it off as the result of controlled testing rather than its true source, outright bribery. Ignorant corporate users are just dying to confirm their mistaken gut feeling nurtured by an immense Intel marketting budget -- that Intel processors are the most reliable, that AMD is a cheap knockoff -- and when they come across a single source that agrees with this, that's all it takes to bury their head in the sand for another five years and maintain the woeful balance of power in this near-monopolized industry.

When Sharky recently called the V5 5500 a &quot;dog&quot; in one of his 3D roundups, that did it for me. Calling a card that scores in the mid to high 80s in Quake 3's demo 1/2 benchmarks at 1024x768x32 or in the 60s in Reverend's DM7-based Quaver demo has an agenda he's pushing. If it's not pure bias then it's simply bad reporting, because while those scores aren't as fast as the GTS, they hardly deserve being called a &quot;dog&quot;.

Funnily enough, all this bruhaha actually made me want to look at Sharky's site. Take a trip with me then...

1) I look at P4 review (should be great for spotting bias). It looks kindly to the P4 by omitting certain facts and praising Intel's Netburst results. It attempts to sweep poor integer performance under the carpet... but look! He hasn't mentioned the PITIFUL FPU performance!
He does say that the P4 is overpriced though.
2) I look for Sharky's value video card roundup mentioned on the homepage but just can't find it. What I do find is WEIRD pictures of his crew lounging about on the floor in front of video card boxes.
3) Looking through other articles, I see he has rated the Duron overclocking fairly. Shame about the style of some of the articles though. They look written in a slightly camp or familiar style that doesn't come off. Adding this kind of style to THOSE pictures makes me wonder if they are either immature and a bit daft or even homosexuals around there.

Wish Master it is a BIG deal. A normal person can show their Bias and thats fine. But when people are reading what your saying TELL THE TRUTH! Even in the P4 benchmarks he showed 90% of benchmarks that P4 could do decent at. He was the ONLY one to do that! I like honest reviewers like Tom and Anand. Tom may have bashed Intel a few times but it was only when they deserved it. He has NEVER shown any false info or tried to trick people like Sharky and I highly respect him, he does a great job.

Just read his P4 article and compare it with the ones from Anand and Tom. His P4 benchmark selection is rather &quot;P4 friendly&quot;.

Not to mention his praise of the new FPU of the P4, which as far as I knew, sucked in comparison to the P3 and the Athlon.

I rarely read his articles anymore, and if I do, it's to get a laugh or two.

Is it a wonder I haven't been to Sharky's site in over 6 months? IMHO, the guy is a sell out and all his minions are there to please the sponsers. He sold his site which is something Anand wouldn;t do and that's pimp his name out. I like Anand alot because he is genuine and does what he does for the love of technology and not bow down like the ass of a bunch of marketeers. If Alex Ross calls Sharky Extreme a review site then I call a steaming plate of dog sh!t a gourmet meal.
