How are these TVs? I'm saving up for an HDTV LCD for the 2006 World Cup (all 64 games broadcast in HD). I'm looking at the 32" Aquos, but how do they rate as a whole? I've seen them in action at various stores and they look pretty good, but I'm pretty new to HDTV technology.

It's been awhile since I've done my research, but last I checked the Aquos brand were some of the better HDTV's.

The difference is the built in HD Tuner. Though 2,000 is awesome for that 37" LCD TV, and a stand alone tuner costs around $250. If you have digital cable or satellite, your provider can sometimes give you a cable box with an HD tuner built in for free or a small monthly fee.

I have the Sharp 32" and I can say it's very nice. The HDMI+DVI comes in handy over having one or the other - sufficed to say you're never going to run out of inputs.

However, if you don't NEED a television...EVENTUALLY the 1920x1080 sets will go down in price (it seems like Benq's planned 37" 2000-dollar set has died before it hit retail), and they'll be much better buys. 720 & 768p will probably ALWAYS be supported, though - it's too widespread to just dump.

The specs mention that the costco model has a built in hdtv tuner. Although not sure how many cable/satellite companies provide a cablecard instead of a stand alone tuner. There have been some reports on chubbywallet where ppl have pricematched the price to circuit city. So you can try that route too.
