lol, I meant 7.5 feet, but even at 7.5 inches it doesn't look grainy at all. 1080p and a 2000:1 native contrast ratio with 4ms timing for the win!

To use it as a computer monitor at a 1920x1080 resolution I'm now sitting about 3.5 feet away from the screen and everything is crystal clear. I'm sure I can go even closer, the quality is very sharp.

I've had my eye on the 37" westinghouse, but after seeing pics and specs of the aqous line-up, I might look into the sharp 37". While it doesn't offer the 2000:1 native cr, or the 4ms response of the 46", with 1200:1 cr and 6ms response, it might be worth the extra couple hundred over the Westinghouse. Sounds like Sharp makes a pretty nice lcd. Does anyone know if it also holds true with their 1080p 37"?

most definately it's better, but in Canada it isn't yet available. I'm surprised to see a $200 difference since the newer models are to be worth 4-5 grand CAD once they hit the stores here.

The 92Us have a 3000:1 ratio compared to the 2000:1 on the 62U. They also have a 120 mhertz frequency as compared ot the original 60mhz. Also , they enable 1080p24 displays as compared to 1080p. Apart from that they are literally same.

I just got a Mitsubishi HD1000U 720p DLP projector for $850 delivered. Playing on a 106" screen with 5.1 and an infinite baffle subwoofer = a sight to be seen/heard! Did I mention my speakers are over 6' tall?

Just got my HD1000u in, gonna go with 96" screen since I'm only 10-11 feet back. Should be awesome.

Very nice pics Apoc.

The Sharp panels are made in Japan and the TV is then assembled in Mexico.

That is most definitely an awesome setup. I *was* completely happy with my 22" widescreen... then I started looking people's pics of their 37" westy's and now you go and post this.

I....must...fight....must...resist.

Hahha, I was actually in the same situation, I loved my Acer 22"

The Z-5500's are a fantastic set of speakers imo, they sound superb and were at a good price. I live in a basement also, so this room is relatively small, because of that I don't crank up the volume much or anything and these speakers do a great job.

Are you going to say 62 version is MUCH better than 92 follower ? I mean older is much
better than new one?

Well the thing is, the 92U is fantastic in just about every way, BUT you then have a bad banding problem which pretty much erases all the good points of the display. I'm not sure about the 62 version.

You can checkout the Sharp thread here to find out all the issues with the 92Us.

Some bad news. Working on an Excel spreadsheet up close I suddenly noticed a few stuck pixels. Around 6 to be exact when I counted (i'm only seeing about 3 at a quick inspection now though). Now don't get me wrong, they're hardly noticable, considering I'm generally using the screen up to a distance of a minimum of 3-4 feet, I never see them, but this is a disappointing nonetheless. One is 'stronger' than the others, but thats it. They're all stuck a particular color (dark red/green etc) and i'm looking into these so-called stuck-pixel fixing programs that flash RGB colours in an effort to "reset" them. Anyone have any success with this stuff? And how long should I run it for?

Also, considering the size and weight, the fact that I'd have to rent a truck to take it back and the possibility of getting a defective (banding) model I don't think I'm going to be returning this to Futureshop. What do you guys think?

Funny you should mention that. I've had my eye on the 42'' Westinghouse 1080p, but after viewing the 42''Sharp LC-42D62U at BB and Ultimate Electronics, I'm starting to think the same thing that the Aquos line is the way to go for a couple hundred more.
