Couldn't find much information on this fax machine till I went to Sharp's website. There I found a link to the user manual in PDF format... Looks like it has pretty decent features for the price.

Bought this last month when the final price
delivered was about $45. Very good fax and
copier. My only complaint is it comes with
imaging paper that only gives you about
30 copies/faxes and the replacement rolls
are about $28. But that's just like the
printers because the profit margins are higher
on cartridges/ink and imaging paper.

Can anyone expand on the previous post? What are the "rolls"? Can it be that we only get 30 copies and then need to buy a replacement item? Is this a laser copier? Sharp website does not explain this at all.

If I had to guess, I think that these imaging paper rolls are just for additional quality. Except I don't see why they have to be rolls. However, staples.com says "Print Technology : Imaging Film". So I'm not exactly sure what the situation is. I looked on Sharp's website also, and that's how I draw my conclusion. It says " Plain Paper Fax: allows for one type of paper for all your faxing and copying needs."

It uses a thermal ribbon. The ribbon that comes with the fax only lasts about 30 pages. No big deal for me since I'm more interested in faxing stuff out than receiving faxes. But I think maybe the best place for replacement ribbons might be E-gay. The two roll packs go for about 10-15 bucks and last 200 pages (100 per roll).

I just got this machine, it's very nice for the price. If you get one, to avoid the expensive ribbons sign up for callwave.com faxwave service. They give you your own number and forward any faxes sent there to your email addy as an attachment. You open the fax and print them on your own printer.

Great freebie. No extra line needed, saves paper, privacy, easy to organize old faxes. Check it out!

Just to note that I have actually reused these imaging rolls by rewinding them. Of course printg quality is not as good new but then again no $ and less waste for the landfill.

Thanks for info. Prancer2. I've been looking for a good price on the replacement rolls for this fax. The coupon didn't work when I tried it on-line but the CSR gladly accepted it when I called in. A very good deal, nomally would have been $19.89 plus shipping, but with $10 off coupon the total was $9.89 and free shipping to boot!

Call in and talk to the CSR. They will accept multiple coupons. Make sure you get their name so that you won't run into any grief later. I'm not sure about online.

Last time I purchased something with multiple rebates at Staples, they accepted a copy of the UPC while the manufacturer got the original. But you might want to make sure (you don't want the Staples $40 rebate to be rejected).

I did this deal earlier. One of the rebates specifically says that a copy of the UPC is ok. The other wants the original. This works ok although I almost always have to call Staples rebates before the actually send them. The web site says that it's "Fulfilled" and gives a check number but it never shows until I call them. The Rebate hassle is almost close to fraud.
