Is shaving upwards on the chin and the area between the upper lip and nose a bad idea? I feel like my shave isn't as effective if I don't go upwards as well as downwards.

thanks,
don

I think it gives a much closer shave. If you have a lot of hair, maybe it is a good idea to go down first tho.

I shave up in that area.

I generally think its a good idea to shave in the opposite direction to how the hair grows. On the throat, the hair grows both up AND down, so you should shave up and down too!

One pass down all over.
2nd pass up all over.
And then sideways along the chin/jaw - well...at a 90 degree angle to the up/down...not truly sideways

just do what ever works. As long as it doesn't cut you what's the problem, are you afraid its going to give so weird form of cancer.

Yea, I hate when I cut myself.........it sucks.

I have to shave up against the grain if I want a close shave.
Only thing it can really do is irritate your skin, possibly give you a pimple?

My problem is that I am cutting myself everytime. Combine that with the fact that I have to shave everyday (because my facial hair grows that fast), and I have an instant problem.

Not so much a pimple as an ingrown hair.

Ingrown hairs are more painful and are harder to get rid of

As for me, I forfeited razors years ago. The only thing I use anymore is a beard trimmer. Bye bye razor rash.

Just slow down when you shave.

Shaving has never caused me much irritation, even when I shave dry (not done often.)

I shave up and down in that area, and all over for that matter. Whatever gets the hair.

I'm getting tired of shaving with a regular razor myself (Mach 3), I think I might go electric soon.

I wish I could. If you go to school with so much as a little stubble they send you to the bathroom with a disposable. Hasn't happened to me but I think it's one STUPID rule./rant
