BTW, have you ever thought of getting black or textured rubstripes? I think they look awesome on Jettas/JTIs, but I don't think it'll look as great with the Votex front

I almost killed one with my bare hands once after chasing it on my mountain bike for 20 minutes.... just when I was about to leap off my bike, tackle it and rip its guts open with my machette, it jumped over a huge thicket

if anyone is interested, here are the steps I followed to detail my car
here are my steps. beware...it takes time to get such a shine. especially on a 4 year old car that sits out in the sun ALL THE TIME!!

wash wheels with wheel cleaner
wash car
claybar the entire car with clay lube - necessary if you are going to polish. NEVER polish a car without claying it first (unless you have recently clayed it)
wash again - one panel at a time - top down, drying immediately to avoid any water spots
polish with Porter Cable 7424 Random orbital polisher and Menzerna Final Polish 2
buff off with microfiber towel
polish with PC 7424 and Klasse AIO - buff off
hand apply Klasse Sealant Glaze
wait 2 hrs - buff off with MF towel
next day
hand apply Klasse Sealang Glaze
wait 2 - 3 hrs, buff off
hand apply Pinnacle S100 Carnauba wax - one panel at a time
buff off immediately


could have gone for another layer of S100...but it was getting too late
took me about 8-9 hrs altogether

any questions...just ask

hmmm i dont know what you consider cheap. But Ive only used the Porter Cable 7424. So I cant really comment on anything else. But I love the PC for polishing. Maybe you can borrow a PC from somewhere...or rent it from somewhere. Just buy your velcro backing pads own pads (5 or 6" ones).

edit: I got the PC for $150.

and what do you dry the car with? I've used towel and t-shirts to whatever and they either leave a lot of lent or don't really suck enough water to dry it and ends with with streaks. I want to start doing it right since my car looks like crap.
