Shenmue I & II on the Wii?

This could be the chance that we need. If the bundle is released on the Wii, I will purchase it. Maybe all the fans should purchase one copy so that we are heard. And maybe, with a little bit of luck, Shenmue 3 will become a reality.

was a huge fan of the first on the DC...hopefully this gets a green light for those who missed out.

i have a copy of Shenmue II for the xbox. played it for like 20 minutes before the xbox crapped out... i may just give it away for free

shenmue was awesome. Never got part 2, unfortunate there was no part 3.


anyway by todays standards, it's kind of a bad game. Wouldn't want to see it on a wii.

both games are great, just not everyone's cup of tea. I think they should pony up and release one more game and just finish it. Sucks they just leave us hanging.

The original Shenmue was decent. It did some pretty amazing things, but to be honest, was not that good of a game. It wasn't even interesting until about the final fifth. They spent way too much time putting vending machines and stupid crap like that (which had absolutely no impact on gameplay) in, and too little time on developing the main parts of the game. The controls were ok, but could be downright terrible at times. It could've been like a modern day River City Ransom with more depth, but they just wasted so much putting in too much pointless crap. Also, while the dialogue was kinda neat for the time, even then it ended up getting annoying pretty quickly.

The second game, I played for a little bit, but just could not get into it.

I think the guy who made them has left Sega, so I don't know how good of chance there'd be for another one.

The Shenmue games were good then, but as with many older games, they aren't quite what they were then. They just don't hold up.
I pulled out Shenmue II (on DC of course) last year and I couldn't play it for more than 30-45 minutes before getting bored.
It's alot like how Dragon's Lair (the Laserdisc based arcade game) was so cool back then, now it's .

Shenmue was a game only in the sense that it just happened to be seen on consoles. Gameplay was nowhere to be found, unless driving forklifts and walking around town slowly is considered fun by kids nowadays.

Yes it is.
The DC isn't region locked and plays "backups" and imports right out of the box.

I would buy it just to finish the story. I really liked Shenmue 1 on DC but never had an xbox so didn't get to play part 2.

When I get the Wii, I'll finally be able to catch up on two classics. This would also be a chance for fans to show that a sequel would sell.

There was a European release that was in English. If you were creative, you could find ways to play it. *whistles innocently*

I really preferred the Japanese version. The translations to English are (as usual) terrible.
Not "all your base are belong to us" terrible, but not good.

this, exactly.

I tried to give it a play-through with my girlfriend recently, who could easily be categorized as a japanophile and we were bored to death within minutes. It's just not as fun as I remembered it.

Maybe I was high(er) the first time through..


edit: I wouldn't mind seeing an anime movie that closed out the story, minus the hours of forklift driving and asking for a place where sailors hang out..
