Shipping sold items to a military base

I listed an item on Amazon and sold it. Part of the address is:

APO, AE 09855-1438

When I googled it, it's a military base in Saudi Arabia. I never had to ship to a base before so I don't know how it works.

Amazon gave me an option to purchase prepaid shipping, and it's through USPS, beginning at around $7 for a 3 lb pound package. Can USPS ship to an oversea base, and is that the right price? Seems low, unless the govt subsidizes it. Anyone shipped stuff to a base as an individual seller through Amazon and know how it works?

edit: of course USPS ships to military bases. and it's not as subsidized as you would think, as there's generally quite a lot of volume going there.

Shipping to an APO is equivalent to shipping to a US mailing address.

It is because it is a military base; that the item gets routed into the military mail system and delivered that way

The military has been doing APO'e for decades, is same as normal mail.

APO mail uses domestic rates but it isn't exactly the same as shipping domestic. Customs forms are required. The general rule of thumb I use is that for First Class, Small Flat Rate Box, or Parcel Select up to one pound, use Form 2976A - CN 22. For Parcel Select over one pound or any other Priority (except Priority Flat Rate Envelope) use Form 2976 - CP 72.

If you use Amazon or USPS online it should walk you through the process of which form to use.
