Anyone see the movie Office Space? Its a great movie but my gripe is with the fact that every time I touch something metal in my office I get shocked the hell out of! How can I prevent this, I dont drag my feet so I dont know what to do its getting unbearable....

Any time I get out of my wife's car, I get shocked. One remedy I found is to hold onto the car key, and tap it against something metal first, that way the charge goes from metal to metal and I don't feel anything. As far as the office, I dunno, maybe if you just carry around a paperclip all the time and use it to ground yourself before coming in contact with any metal.

It happens because the humidity level in homes and buildings gets very low. The lower the humidity, the greater chance you have of recieving a static shock.

As for the car, I found that if I grab onto the metal part of the door before I step down onto the ground, my chances of getting shocked are far lower than if I stepped out of the car and then grabbed onto the metal part of the door.
