The supposed benefits of all these "Shape Ups" shoes aside... I tried a pair on today just because I was curious and holy crap they were the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn...

Has anyone else tried them? I'm not sure that spending $100 would be worth looking like a geek wearing the things.

I always thought those, and most over 'novelty' shoes looked pretty retarded to me. Never tried them on though.

I watched the promo video and it seemed like pretty much the dumbest thing I'd ever seen. If they're comfortable, ok, but exercising by making it harder to walk? Sheesh...

I'm a Registered Nurse and I see a lot of nurses wearing them. None of seen any results from the exercising aspect of it but many of them talk about how they feel it helps with their posture and help them stand up straighter. They say it forces you to stand straight. Also, with the long hours on our feet I've been told those have been the most comfortable shoes to wear for long periods of time. I have considered getting them but they are just so.... ugly. HA. Maybe when this pair of work shoes kicks the bucket I'll try a pair out.

They look like retard shoes. No offense intended or anything, but they look like something that a "challenged" person would wear.

If it gets you to walk more, I guess it's worthwhile...

There's a company called Masai Barefoot Technologies selling these things for $245? Bahahhh!

I doubt a shoe that makes it harder to walk is really going to get many people to walk more. If anything, they'll start thinking they don't need to walk as much since the time they do spend walking is supposedly so much more productive.

Cool. I wear running shoes 99% of the time, $130 Asics Nimbus Gel to be exact, but something new to try is always cool. I wish I was not such a puss and could run barefoot...could save lots of cash..

I heard that at last Olympics as Africans were doing freken marathons in the buff ..you ever try that shit? I have and brutal. Course I'm not 155lbs either but 245... Heal strikes are the real killer. Thus I run on toes ...looks ridiculous but it may save knees over the long haul.

Some people are even able to run trails in Vibrams, I've seen it. One 17 y.o. I know finished a 50 miler on technical trails this summer, he came in third overall... Me personally, I wouldn't dare run trails in Vibrams, I need all the rock and root protection I can get.

As to the "shape up" type shoes, I'm not convinced that this is for real and I am convinced that the shoes look like crap.

A lot of women at my workplace wear them, with business attire no less. I've heard them praising the shoes and that they feel better, but they're hideous and I'm betting it's mostly the placebo effect.

You can fit Vibrams into the category for special people. They look ridiculous. I'm not sure what benefit there is to wearing those instead of a typical Nike Free type shoe other than wanting to look like a gorilla-douche.

There's better than Nike Free out there. NB Minimus for instance. Even the NB MT101s are better choices. And in the trail world, there are some aweome minimal INOV-8 shoes.

I'm the gorilla-douche when you're the one raging about what's on my feet? I prefer to workout barefoot and my gym requires that I have something on my feet.

Are they comfy?which do you wear?

They're really comfy. I have the KSO's since I prefer to lift barefoot, but most gyms have rules against that. I also run in them and it improves my running form a great deal. I make sure to run on softer surfaces (grass, dirt) and it's quite nice.

Thank god for that. I don't even feel comfortable going barefoot in the locker room, they are breeding grounds for athlete's foot and warts.
