And yet it is ignored like whores on a European Politician......

Oh, you meant that as an insult.

Sorry, it just didn't fit well enough.

insult? In pennsylvania when the sheriff shows up to serve the order they remove your weapons and it looks like in california they have the same common sense laws. Why did this guy still have a gun?

In pa. you can't own a gun if you have a restraining order against you.I found this http://law.onecle.com/california/civil-procedure/527.9.html and it and it seems the laws are already in place to prevent this

Because we all know that making something illegal makes it impossible to get. Oh wait..

The similiarities between gun laws and drug laws are quite profound. When will people wake up? EVERYONE should have a gun. Law abiding citizens outnumber criminals by an order of magnitude.

Sure, shit would still happen. But if a criminal knew that it's likely almost everyone is packing, what do you think that would do?

It's really not rocket science.

And i agree with you,the laws failed these people.I think criminals make up about 1% of the population and we are way to soft on them.

Just yet another example of how the seemingly endless stream of gun laws coming out of Sacramento do absolutely nothing to prevent the lawless from doing their will. You could have papered this nutbag in the current "protective legislation" and he would not have been slowed one bit. Only the law abiding abide by the law.

Wrong.

You can always document a transgression, but how can you document a case where nothing happened?

carrying unloaded firearms is illegal now too

Yeah, I'm sooo upset over that.

Honestly, who gives a shit if that is illegal? There is nothing more useless than an unloaded firearm. Might as well carry a cat strapped to your waist.

Near as I can tell this guy was a law abiding citizen...right up to the point at which he murdered 8 innocent people.

and if he had been a law abiding citizen and not had a gun then went crazy and decided to do this, he would have gotten a hold of weapons regardless of the laws, making him a criminal. whats your point? the only difference is the cops have a list of law abiding citizens that own guns. they have no idea which criminals do, since they dont go through legal channels to get their weapons.

No, they typically steal them from law abiding citizens or buy them from law abiding citizens privately at gun shows.

yup. any smart seller that sells at a gun show will get some info from the gangsta when he sells it, so his back story sounds good to the cops when they come to the door tho.

How can a cop tell if it is unloaded when he stops you?

Yea, in the UK they have a sword ban now. It's getting ridiculous. Nothing over 18"

I'm thinking next they will have a screwdriver ban. Thousands will die from shoddy electrical work done with butterknives, but at least no one will be killed by a vicious screwdriver murder-suicide. Of course then people would just run each other over. Seeing as public transport is perfectly good maybe people in the UK don't deserve cars. They have to pay so much for gas they barely use them anyway, and its good for the environment!

My gist is though, that endless legislation about weapons does nothing to curb the actual murder/assault numbers. Many in the UK say we have more gun crime, which is absolutely true, but it is because we have more guns. In the UK they just use other weapons instead, and it is usually more brutal. If your gonna snap it doesn't matter if you drive your SUV through the front and blugeon everyone with a crowbar or use a gun the problem is the person snapping initially which is a mental health aspect. And the UK has terrible mental health. Go look it up! Damn hypocrites.

Wifes/ex-wifes frequently make up stories of abuse to trigger a restraining order against the male to make him lose his kids. Happens all the time and wouldn't surprise me if that's what set him off.

hello and welcome to 2002

The cafe, which stays open until 4 a.m., was full, so Ly and his friend smoked a cigarette outside as they waited for a computer to become available. A few minutes later, the two teenage boys from inside confronted them, authorities said.

One of the boys pulled a large screwdriver he had tucked into his waistband and stabbed Ly in the head, police said. The assailants ran, yelling gang names as they jumped into a light green Honda Accord and sped east on Garden Grove Boulevard.

You can never smash black markets though. Literally. They crop up anywhere price restrictions are in place, or in the case of drugs and sometimes guns, they are made entirely unavailable. It still doesn't stop the black market.

The gangters would still be the ones with guns, they would have the cash to get them smuggled in more than anyone. Any country with lots of guns would do, and there are plenty of poor 3rd world ones with terrible enforcement.

Viola! I'm full of them today.

Yep. The world is full of different people and lots of stupid crap which = stress. Enough stress will cause a person to snap. Gun or not, they gonna get their kills. Course guns do make mass murder easier, but as long they're being manufactured and sold to the public, gun laws won't stop anything.
