So I stayed home sick with the stomach flu today. Not so horrific for me. I've decided that my body has preminitions of when I'll be in danger, and so it gives me random viruses. If I had have worked at the world trade center, on 9/11 I would have found out I had cancer or something. Anyway..
My mom called my friend Ruby today at about 9am to tell her that she could still have a ride this afternoon (we carpool) and to ask her to pick up my homework for me. Ruby was like, "Uhh..no. My mom is picking me up in about 5 minutes. School is canceled." My mom asked why and Ruby said there was a shooting. *Gasp*
See, this comes as a shock because I live in a small town. Plus, my school is pretty anal retentive. There are hardly ever any fights, and we take a lot of security measures, even so (ID Badges, Bomb/Intruder Drills, etc.) I always thought it was really stupid until today.
So apparently some kid brought a gun to school and started shooting it off, first thing in the morning before any classes even started. Ruby said she pulled up to the highschool and some kids came out of the school screaming and running out infront of her mom's car. She thought, "That's odd." and went inside anyway. Then someone announced that there was a fire and they all evacuated to the Civic Center across the street. Then they found out it was a shooting, and that's about it.
It actually wasn't all that exciting. No one got shot. The kid got arrested. They're not releeasing his name. That was about it. School was canceled...I guess that's a good thing. I won't have any homework to make up today!
The end.
