Yeah, BB takes shop lifters pretty seriously. They search every employee every time they leave the store.
If I remember correctly they were actually sued for doing that as an invasion of privacy.

well, they're still doing it as of 6months ago.

I want to hear more stories of apprehensions!

My son said he got to go into the Sears security center today. Happened to see a customer try to return something they had just pulled off the shelf. The cashier told the customer she would have to call a manager. The customer basically said, never mind, and walked off without the item. I REALLY think I'd enjoy busting these maggots!

Wait. So if there are only two people working and you guys are no-where near Target, who's guarding the store? I mean, could I have shoved an Xbox down my pants and walked out the front door while you guys were chasing a guy with an electric razor?

MORE! I want to hear many more stories of punks getting nailed!

I'd honestly LOVE that job. I think I'd almost pay to do it!

I bet close to 10% of the people on this board have pilfered stuff from stores. I'd sure like to hear their rationalization for it. They're probably the ones pissing and moaning loudest about their 'rights' being violated by security measures and arrest procedures.

I doubt it's anywhere even remotely close to 10%
But, after reading the above posts.... I'd like to be the customer who security makes a mistake on and thinks shoplifted something, then gets tackled with broken ribs in the parking lot... I often have stuff with me in my pockets that I take into the store, especially hardware stores, when I need to buy a special part that fits just right. I'll pull it out of my pocket, size up the new piece that I need, put my part in my pocket, and head to the checkout with the new piece in my hand... it would be obvious to anyone looking at the part in my pocket that it wasn't new and didn't come from the store.... but tackle me to find out, will ya? I've got a bunch of college loans that I'd love to pay off with the winnings of the lawsuit.

A week ago, I was outside of Wal-Mart when their asset protection team chased down a shoplifter. Dude tried to take off into a field filled with ditches and high grass.

"asset protection team"

So that's what it's called, eh? Many years ago, a gal I knew worked for Sears security. She mentioned the $10,000.00 worth of cameras, VCRs and monitors that had been added to their security system. I told her I thought that was pretty extravagant. Not that much merchandise would likely even be stolen. She said that was a pittance compared to the cost of a false arrest trial and settlement. With those cameras and tapes, it's pretty hard for that to happen now.

I'd sure like to know what penalties these thieves face after they're convicted. They ought to be stiffly fined to help pay for all this equipment used to bag them. Not to mention salaries of the "asset protection team". What kind of punishment do they get?
