Shopping Fiber Gigabit Ethernet

anyone know where i can find a good deal on a fiber gigabit card?
my university requires that i have one to get on their network (they are freaking idiots for not using copper, a good waste of my $400 tech fee, 802.3ab cards are only $50 or so, not to mention the savings on the cat5 vs fiber and the routers and switches)
basically they card they suggest is the netgear GA621, which runs about $190 on pricegrabber...
anyone know of a different card that is 802.3z compliant that is cheaper or a place to buy one cheaper...
also looking for a good price on the cable itself... 10 feet would be nice (the school wants 25 bux for 6)

This isn't really consumer-level equipment yet [FOR THE MOST PART HEH HEH HEH] so pricewatch type vendors probably aren't blowing them out; I'd check out ubid, ebay and google for 'isp-equipment' it's a good mailing list with people selling off extra networking gear all the time.
