I'm 5'9.
I used to worry a lot about my height. Once you get over the fact that it's not something you can change, you tend realize it's a really stupid thing to worry about in the first place.
You can change height. Limb lengthening surgery can add several inches though its expensive.
I know the surgery you are talking about. The part of my body that did not grow enough are my femurs.
You couldn't pay
me to have the kind of surgery required to lengthen my bones. It's absolutely insane to think that someone might even consider it for any reason other than for some kind of deformity.
Yeah, I always find it funny that someone will mention surgery in these kind of thread as if it's nontrivial. Aside the fact that it's prohibitively expensive, let's not forget that the healing process is excruciatingly painful, leaving you bedridden for an extended period. Impact to your overall athleticism? You bet. If you were getting shin splints before, magnify that many times over. That is assuming that you can even run at all. Add in the risk of complications...jeez I can't see why anyone would think this option is even viable.
I don't think you ahould talk about the subject as if you knew alot about the subject.
Complications- In some of the more refined Institute, complications are zero to none.
Out of 1000 cases, you might get 1-2 complications but they always fix it.
As for as Athleticism, we're not talking about professional athletes here. we're talking about short people.
Its like saying if you broken a bone, you lose your athleticims...its simply untrue.
Its just take a while to get back to 100%....2-5 yrs down the road.
Just depends on how hard to work on getting back to normal.
Athletes go through worst injuries and they are able to come back 100% playing again.
The bad part about it is
1) Yes it is expensive. If you don't have at lest $30K to spare, don't even think about it.
Not only that, you will probably won't be able to work for 6months-2 yrs depending on what kind of work you're in. That alot of loss income.
2) Yes, it is painful. No other way to put it.
You're leghtening your bones and the muscles and cartlidge, etc...has to leghten with it.
So no, if you're like 5'6 and taller, no its not a viable option.
For shorter people under 5'5, those extra few inches make a world of difference.
