Why is it hilarious? There's lots of VZW iphones in stock and virtually everyone knows what it does since the phone was first released last June. It's pretty much the same as the AT&T phone just on Verizon. Online preorders sold out I believe but I'd take a guess and say that there will be lines for the iPhone 5 or 4GS or whatever they call it.

Did you watch the video? They had extra employees to service supposed lines of iphone buyers, which obviously didn't materialize. It's pretty funny, no need to analyze everything into the ground.

it's just funny to see 50x blue shirted apple store employees cheering for 2 or 3 customers. If i was thinking about buying an iphone I'd probably skip that store. I don't want to have a party when I buy something, I want to go in, pick it up, pay and leave.

I can understand doing things like this for major launches i.e. iPhone 5...but this was just silly. I doubt most stores did anything this major.

if they hadn't had the preorder i could understand it. but everyone who really wanted one (i.e. those willing to line up) had already pre-ordered. so it was just silly for a store to do this. IMHO.

I did not see much possibility for the mammoth lines AT&T experiences (and clearly allows) as Verizon shipped most of their units rather than requiring customers to line up like cattle. Personally, there's no way in hell I'd take waiting in one of those god awful lines over a fed ex to my house.

Most people would wait for their contract to be over, not just switch carriers because of a phone being released.

Yea it was a little survey but as we all know, what people say they want and actually want are almost always not the same. Look at New Coke and the McLean Deluxe. Taste tests all over the country were done and people loved them before they were officially released but when both of them came out, they flopped horribly. Of course we wtill see customers get the iPhone but no where near that number. People for some reason think iPhone going on Verizon is magically going to make it the #1 phone which still won't happen seeing as everywhere else in the world it`s available on multiple carriers and it isn't #1 there either. Also we have to wait and see until June for the full effect. CDMA phones not easily being sold and activated to different customers could hurt people dumping their current Verizon phones also.

So you're going on record and saying it's a failure?

Apple releases exact sales figures during it's quarterly reports, but I suspect we'll see some numbers on Monday, and I suspect we'll see some impressive numbers too.

Remember all those stories of how ATT screws up iPhone releases? Long wait times, lengthy activation processes, etc? The Verizon variant has been released at Apple stores, Verizon stores, BB, and WalMart, but the online orders is what's going to be really impressive.

Estimates for Verizon customer pre-orders are in the 500K range, (online only from last week), I suspect we'll see a total of 1-1.5 million Verizon iPhones were sold this weekend, covering the production run of 2 million CDMA iPhones.
