How much will I be shortening the lifespan of my CPU if...
I'm overclocking a P4 2.6C from 2.6 to 2.83??

Probably none if you don't raise your Vcore any. It's the voltage that kills the chips not the speed.

Unless you're one of those weirdo's who thinks CPU's are built with a certain number of clock cycles in them, and if you run it faster you use them up faster, lol.
Does this built in overclocking option raise your Vcore or does it raise the FSB all by itself? If the Vcore stays at default then your chip will not "age" due to the overclock.Originally posted by: JaydenChris
So if I'm using the Overclocking option from my Asus P4C800-Deluxe (10% OC), my CPU will survive the same amount of time as not overclocking at all?
