It's a difficult choice between those 3 (Mossberg, Winchester and Remington), and since i'm no expert, i'm wondering which one is the best deal in terms of price/quality...can't always trust those MSRP's

So far, i've read that the Mossberg is military approved, seems to be the most sophisticated with heatshield, speedloader and bayonet (thanks Fuzb0!) but still have to check on those features at the store.
The defender is given as pricey but extremely reliable and versatile (shoot everything) type of shotgun, and i've read that some people find the Remington too heavy but then again, the 870 is a kind of benchmark out there for shotgun.

The finish is horrible on Remmington express shotguns, it will take a lot of maintenance to keep it from rusting.

Winchester Defender is now being sold as the FN Police.

However, for the money, the mossberg is the best deal of those 3.

Make sure whatever you get fits you. A shotgun isn't so much aimed as pointed, and where it points depends on how it fits.

I'm debating between the Mossberg and the Winchester. The fact that the Winchester is now being sold as the FN police and that it's not discounted too much a good sign that it will hold his value better than the rest? I'm looking for the best money can buy cause i'm convinced that has far as home defense goes, all will do just a fine job.

Actually i found out about the Benelli Nova from a local dealer, and for $350 it "seems" to be a much better shotgun, any opinions/personal experience with that one?

More information than you'd ever want to know

edit: The Nova is a great gun, i'm actually looking a buying one. It should come with rifle or ghost rings sites as opposed to just a bead site on the others. However, it is alot lighter than the others so recoil will be much more harsh. Also, the reciever and buttstock are all one piece on it so make sure that it fits you before you buy it, as there is no way you can change it later.

Last year, around the end of the season, I got an 870 Express for $196 with a hard case at my local Academy Sports (chain - not sure how big they are, or if they're in California). That was the lowest I've seen, but in the months before that, I had seen the 870 Express at $250 or so at several different stores.

I hate saying, as many do not like WalMart, but they will price match most any price - even out-of-stock items...

Thanks for the link and the feedback, from what i gathered so far, the Mossberg might be a better buy since with it's 20" barrel you can take it for clay shooting...

Is this model of the Mossberg 590 the same that passed the USGI requirements? i've read that all 590's are not created equal and that the military approved ones and these are not the same, true?

They also have Mossberg 500s on sale for $239 which come with two barrels; a 28" for birds/clays and an 18.5" for home defense. I'm very happy with mine. The safety on top is very well placed, and I much prefer it to triggerguard area safeties.

Savage Enfields are also on sale. :Q I need to check those out soon.

The 500 seems nice too, i think the only difference is the lovwer capacity (7 vs 9) and the heatspreader, but for ~$216 that's a nice deal IMO.
