Shots fired at GOP Congressional baseball practice

Just heard on CNN, 2 officers shot (security detail?) Not sure which representatives or senators were there but I believe Sen. Rand Paul if on the team.

At least one rep shot, Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

Rep. Mo Brooks is describing the shooter as using a semiautomatic rifle Still not clear how many people were shot.

Edit: CNN now saying 5 shot--Rep. Scalise, a staffer, 2 members of security detail...Not sure who else. Rep. Brooks says shooter was " taken down", CNN received statement that shooter is " in custody".

Rep. Brooks described the shooter as a "chubby white male".

So he targeted Rep. Scalise first, and hit him in the hip. He then proceeded to shoot it out with the local guards, and was neutralized. Apparently 5 people are hit, with nobody dead yet. The guy must've had horrible aim because he was firing from he 3rd base dugout with a large semi-auto rifle. They just had a report from another congressman and he played all this out.


Scalise should survive, there was apparently no exit wound and he was mobile enough to drag himself some 30 yards. If he had been hit in an artery he wouldn't have made it more than 5.
