I was referring to it in a much broader sense. On one side of it, every right wing creepazoid in America crawled out from under their rock to cheer him on & a fair number of progressives took on the rhetorical style of their opponents because reasoning with their counterparts got them nowhere. People held in thrall to a great charlatan obviously aren't very reasonable. They hear only what they want to hear.

The poisonous rhetoric pushes fringe people right over the edge whether they're left or right. If we look back over the last 20 years or so it's obvious who's been spewing the vast majority of it & that's not Libs.

It doesn't appear that he had mental issues other than being an anti-social asshat. He was a progressive and this attack was politically motivated. I am not delusional enough to believe that people who share my worldview are incapable of violence.

Currently right wing murderous violence far outstrips left wing violence in America. That could change and may be in fact may be changing. Both sides could become more violent as the nation's middle class slides into oblivion. It has happened over and over again in human history. I'm pretty simple. If you can agree that everyone's a human being whose well being and happiness matters, then I'll cordially debate with you. If you can't deal with that I will tolerate you exactly as much as I have to and no more.
