It goes without saying that some on the left have been mentally compromised by recent historical events. So you're right it's also a mental issue.

whew, so only a recent issue for the left, based on "recent historical" (wait, is that a contradiction?) events. So, what's the right's excuse for their collective mental compromise over the last 3 or 4 decades?

OroOROrorOROROROoorderoos directly violating posted rules, yet again.

snowflakes gonna snowflake

My posts word count actually exceeds your own. Get over yourself.

I believe this incident set the precedent. Remember Trump promised to pay these peoples legal fees. Trump called for violence. Don't remember that coming from the mouths of Hillary or Bernie.

This is very tragic, glad to see the game will still happen. It is very sad this happened, and thankful for the speedy action of those who came to aid, and that as of now nobody has died other than the shooter.

Sadly, some real winners decided to go off the deep end. Even claiming conservatives are to blame for this. That is not only a pathetic and wrong accusation, this is a time we need to come together. Acts like this, no matter who got hurt and who started it, need to stop. The bickering between both sides, and the terrorism on our soil that has been allowed to fester needs to stop. This starts from the top.

That was my point...mainstream media and Democrats in Congress are all pretty solemn and unified about this action...the alt-right is trying to politicize this immediately.

Someone explain why InfoWars is claiming this was a "media-inspired" attack? Let me guess...because the media covers mass shootings, as opposed to outright denying that they even happened??

Except not. Dont try to act like this is the truth. Reading most any FB posts, tweets, forums, etc shows many people (here included) trying to politicize this.

Claimed 93 million die by guns a day too. So many on here trashed Trump for what they deemed politicizing a tragedy, yet not a peep when other way around. True colors showing. They don't really care about the core of it, just when one side does it.

Sadly I predict more of this rather than less. Shit is coming apart at the seams.

The congress ppl will come together for about a day to decry partisanship, then turn back around to cramming controversial legislation on a party line vote and no public hearings.

It's nice to hear no one was killed, but it's still a despicable crime.

I'm not going to take pleasure in knowing that now the GOP knows how Planned Parenthood and various colleges feel sometimes, but I am curious to see if it changes their attitudes about blowback from their policies.

And I agree with Bitek, it's going to increase.

Yeah. Let's hope republicans learn their lesson. Pissing off progressives can get you killed.

Doubtful. It will likely increase they're desire to subdue the plebes.

I genuinely don't think there's anything wrong with involving politics in the discussion that inevitably occurs after an incident of this kind. I saw David Frum write something cogent on Twitter:

There was a terrible fire in London.. Would any British person say in the aftermath “this is not the time to discuss fire safety?"
Availability of guns to residents of the U.S. is fairly undeniably the cause of why there's been multiple mass shootings in the U.S. this week; hell, this wasn't even the only mass shooting on June 14, 2017 in the United States. That is a unique problem amongst first world nations. You should absolutely be talking about what in your nation's politics enable this problem.

Surely there are middle ground steps that everyone can agree on if we take the temperature down on this issue. How about Sweden-style mandatory training - free or very low cost maybe - on weapons in order to obtain one? I like shooting guns (quite a bit actually) but I'd definitely want to take a course or three before having one at home.

Trump should spin this as a reason why his Travel Ban is so important. "This man should never have been allowed to travel outside of his home." "BTW, it's my birthday, could I have some cake, and please with two scoops of ice cream.:"

There is literally no other time to discuss gun control than in the wake of a shooting in the US, because there is no other time period.
meh, I completely gave up after Sandy Hook. That massacre of children did nothing to spur a reasonable discussion about guns, so fuck it, I cannot think of a single thing that would motivate people more than the slaughter of gradeschool children by a heavily armed twatwaffle.

Literally, not a single thing. So fuck it. There will never be a reasonable, rational discussion on guns, and there achingly needs to be one. I'm not turning this spectacle into a platform to advocate for anything. Not a goddamned thing. I had some shit typed out, but fuck it, this is who we are as a country.

I've practically given up on them learning much, but maybe a tragedy like this might result in the GOP spending less time and money with PR stunts like the one that gave us the PP shooting. Maybe easing off the policies that will result in people dying might help?

I doubt this is a progressive thing. Probably more of a 'you fools are killing people with your harmful policies' type trying to send a message. You know, like the anti-abortion rights crowd has doing for a long time. I guess we'll see, but so far it appears the anti-choice woman punishers and Gadsen flag types can't hog all the crazy.

Nice to see you guys complaining about an actual crime at least. The Sandy Vagina Routine regarding what some idiot students said on a campus somewhere has been woefully pathetic for sometime now.

I didn't say it wasn't. I simply corrected someone and pointed out hypocrisy from the past.

Gun make it easy to kill people. Fact is, people will still kill no matter what. Note the vehicles used to kill mass people lately. We have seen that. Banning of guns all together doesn't stop the usage of guns. Reasonable restrictions and checking of persons buying guns is definitely something we should be doing. Something that is already in place for most places. The ignorance of people thinking that "gun restrictions" will stop people from killing others is silly.

I do find it funny though, that there are those here who want zero restrictions on voting (no checking to make sure they are who they say they are voting) , and all sorts of restrictions on buying a gun (checking to make sure they say who they say they are), or a banning of them all together. When both are rights. But then you have people the other way too.

It is incredibly pathetic for some people here and elsewhere, to blame conservatives or anyone else other than the man who did this.
