some questions...

1) will the DDR2-750 work with the systems? or only 533/667/800 ??
2) leave the stock cooler or get a Zalman CNPS9500(AM2, 60$) ???
3) how high can i overclock the E6600, stable, fast and not so hot ??? (with stock cooler)
4) how high can i overclock the X2 5000+ ??? (the same thing as above)
5) who will consumes less energy? will heat less? will operate faster?

the rest of the rig is my current...

Go Conroe for sure. Can't really answer the rest of your questions, but the Conroe chip does consume a bit more energy than the AMD one, although not much more and the performance/watt you get on the Conroe chip outweighs that point making it irrelevant.

Conroe is indeed a faster choice. The only thing I can say about going AMD is if you find a killer deal somewhere.

oh.... yeah... i cannot buy from ZZF or NewEgg, but... well... at the same price, is really a better choice to go Core 2 ?

i knew that Core 2 consume 65W, so it consumes less then the AMD one... but... what about overclocking performance and the cooler?

it worth what i pay? is a good setup for 700~800$ ?

thanks people who are helping! thanks a lot!

Um no. The Conroe chip uses less power.

and what about Mobo suport? i know that the M2N32 is the "TOP" Mobo for AM2 from Asus, with TOP features and TOP chipset... the gigabyte will allow me to overclock good as the Asus? the Gigabyte will give me a good suport and stability? somebody here has a gigabyte? heehhe

Gigabyte is a good manufacturer. Abit and Asus are usually more respected choices, but Gigabyte can overclock well enough for most people. The there's DFI boards but the people who buy DFI (like me), Overclock beyond and tweak things so much that many people wouldn't see the benefits from what DFI gives you as options.

Many gigabyte boards overclock very well and are super stable. Remember it's luck, you may get a good board and maybe you'll get a board that doesn't like the speeds you try.

yeah its lame being outside of the US where prices locally are horrendous and online etailers dont ship to other countries (in my case the Bahamas) or dont take non-US based credit cards.
What we have to do is own US mailboxes and then ship em here locally.

i was thinking to overclock the 5000+ to 3000mhz or the E6600 to 3000mhz... what of them will run cooler?(with stock cooler) what of them will run stable ?

and... is possible to reach this clock with "default" settings?

i wanna get the Conroe setup, but i dont know if it will answer my questions, all times in my life, i go AMD, and all this times, AMD was better... the only time i get a Intel processor, was the P4 640 and it sucks a lot... so i think im a bit afraid from Intel processors hehehe...

Intel will always be faster if you compare Conrow to current AMD solutions. ALWAYS...

Now, for your overclock question it is 100% LUCK...nobody can tell you which will do better because each chip is not the same. Even a chip from the same stepping that did 3Ghz may not go so far for you with your components. I would never overclock with the stock HSF. I always get a good aftermarket HSF when I know I'm going to overclock.

but... Core 2 is faster then X2... i know it... but, it will consumes less power and heat less to?

normally the AMD systems consumes less power, not only the processor but all the systems... somebody here have a Link, to give me with some help?

the Core 2 E6600 have SpeedStep? have virtualization? XDBit ?

so, finally, is the E6600 the better choice, right?

Under load, you are correct...was looking at idle

can't help you there. I'd just get DDR2-800 to be safe

Hmmmm. I think maybe you need to be careful (oh and by the way I also live in Spain and I know it can be a real pain getting hold of the latest hardware - god bless the net and fast couriers)

Whilst I'm convinced that Conroe like for like offers much better performance that AMD X2 architecture, this is all based on 32bit environments. Many articles point towards X2 being faster in 64bit environments. Why should we care? Well in a word Vista (which let's face it, everyone will be buying in the 64 bit version). To be honest it really does mean reading between the lines in some articles and I think one of the most balanced bearing in mind until vista arrives we really will not know is:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core2duo-64bit_3.html

As you can see, conroe still whips AMD but the performance gains in XP64 are higher in the AMD compared to the Intel. These were the two top end chips but further down the range it appears as though the gap narrows further. All in all, based on pricing AMD is good value AND a realitvely future proof chip. In any case hope you got the system you wanted...now go get that high end graphics card to make good use of it!!

You could overclock the E6300 to 3GHz, but I guess it's more likely to happen with the E6600. Not too much more likely, though.
