Should a man be having a baby in his early 50's?

co-worker just had a baby boy 2 days ago. I had to cover his shifts. I want to be happy but damn that seems late in life to being a baby daddy.

Everybody is doing things later in life but yeah not being able to run around and keep up with the little balls of energy would be depressing. He'll be 68 when they graduate and might not get to see them marry but there really is no rule to living life, different strokes man. I wouldn't want to be retired and dealing with teenagers at all though.

No personal experience. Like mentioned child will graduate H.S. when parents (assuming Mother is near 50s), will be in their late 60s, early 70s.
Not really a good thing for a child to grow up with "old" parents.

About the age my parents married (Dad-28,Mom-27). Had 8 kids, 1st at 28, #7 at 38, last at almost 44. I was #5.

Huge age gap too (50 yrs 8 months). Having $$$ is a factor obviously.

Depends on his health... my grandpa was 78yrs old and he was playing basketball with other of his colegues. I mean really played... like fast and aggressive lol.
Socially speaking, the people will look a bit crossedeyed... at 56 he will take the baby to school and if he looks old it's weird but can be in his 50's and look like 40. I guess depends on physical condition, finances and the local community.
I would say no, because the risk of dying is large so the baby would grow up without a father... but depends on what everybody wants. If he desires a baby regardless, it's ok.
