should all of your appliances match????

eventhough i have all shiny black appliances i thought a stainless steel regrigerator would look cool. but my family is saying that the appliances need to match.

any opnions.

I'd match them. Plus, the black *might* be a little cheaper. Definitely get a side by side. If you ever leave it behind with your house when you sell, you can use it as a bargaining tool (sell it with the house).

BTW, do you have kids? I was going to go stainless until I found out it dents and scratches very easily. I went with standard white instead.

Black and SS do look quite well together. So, if you like it and want it, then by all means get it.

However, I read that buyers tend to perfer all matched appliances, but it probably isn't a major influence.

When I bought my house, it had a white fridge, a harvest gold range, a chocolate brown over-the-range microwave, and a black dishwasher. I still bought the house. But I calculated the cost to replace them and subtracted that from my offer. $2000 later I have all matching appliances, new countertops, new curtains, new lighting, new outlets, new paint, etc. I really like the matching look.

I went with all black because SS was a ripoff at the time (too popular) and it is a pain in the @ss to live with. Dents, scratches, fingerprints galore, not magnetic, etc. After 3 years in the fast food industry trying in vain to clean SS every day, I didn't want to have to deal with it any more.

That will look fine. Don't get stainless though- magnets don't stick to it, and it's impossible to keep clean. There's a new finish out there that looks just like stainless, but it's actually a coating instead of the bare metal. Stainless actually sucks unless you're in the food service industry.

I don't buy the whole "magnets don't stick to it" argument. Fridges less prone to attracting a bunch of sh1t being stuck to them would be a good thing. Having said that, I went with shiny white instead of SS when I bought a new fridge last month.
