I'm someone who never trusted his stories (and got a certain amount of crap for it) but I didn't care about the stories. What I cared about is what he was happy doing to other members.

He got busted and banned for life and that should be the end of it.

There you go, this says it all.
Voted no. Permanent should mean permanent.

Shut up with this ridiculous argument.

Paulson had a permaban lifted -and he's Elite now.

GoldenGuppy had a permaban lifted.
YOU shut up. Neither of them did anything near what DF did.
Paulson shouldn't have been let back in, either, but obviously he made friends with a mod or something.
He was banned for incessant neffing, and when he came back, he neffed just as much. But instead of ridiculous posts for no reason, he posted acting like he was helping, like in a thread that asked how to do something on the AT Forums, he'd reply something like "ck forum rules" or "PM a mod", etc.
Simple, very short answers and lots of them, done solely for post count.
Maybe he's great now, but that's exactly what he did immediately after he was reinstated.

He did NOT, however, lead everyone on ATOT on the emotional rollercoaster that Dennilfloss did.
The situations are not in any way similar, other than they were both banned, and one was let back.

Paulson earned his Elite badge by helping folks like friggin crazy. Dennis didn't do anything remotely worth getting upset over and neither did Paulson.

Paulson was annoying, and as far as I can tell he isn't much better. One annoying post is ok, but thousands seems a bit extreme. Dennis did do something worth getting upset about to a lot of people, so it seems like you're wrong.

Nik's opinion != perfect

If you weren't upset that doesn't mean others weren't. Or maybe the world revolves around you.

Like I said, maybe Paulson is great now, I don't know.

But you are dead wrong about the other thing.....PLENTY of folks here were upset at both of them before they were banned.
It was decided that Paulson could come back......and it has been decided that Dennilfloss should not....and that should not be changed just because some folks have forgotten how pissed they were over what he did because a few years have gone by.

Plenty of people have told lies here. I remember Cablegod (or was is Cattlegod??) spinning a huge lie about all these mods he did to his Camaro, and he finally got called on it.
That's okay, if you want to risk getting embarassed.
But I well remember all the sadness that surrounded Nowheremom's supposed "death", and how pissed everyone was when we found out the truth.
Screw that. We don't need someone like that around here.

That's not a ridiculous argument, maybe those people still deserve their permabans.

Also, telling people to shut up over the internet is a pointless inflammatory response.

Were you ltk007? Just wonderin.

Why you guys FAIL to realize is that this is NOT a democracy . . .

Someone in AT is testing whether Dennilfloss will be able to post here or not.

from the looks of the responses - dropping the "hateful" responses and Dennil's friends from the equation, says to me that he'll be back.

Which is good news to me because he was "entertainment" and OT forum is currently full of dull [and hateful] posters.

So uh if you drop the "hateful" responses (I read this as people against his reentery) you'll be dropping about 40% of the peoples opinion that voiced one in this thread? Also there was a shortlived poll thread specifically for this subject. If I recall from the small sample, which occurred around lunch westcoast time IIRC those againsts outnumbered those for his return 3:1.

yup 34 against his return vs. 14 for his return.

I hope the against party prevail.

absolutey NOT what i mean . . . . you can tell the difference between a "negative" ['i hope he doesn't return'] and a hateful ['i hope he burns in hell for eternity'] response, can't you?

let me repeat - this is NOT a democracy and the mods don't make the final decisions.

Is Nik the official Dennifloss spokesperson or what?

WTF is the point of a lifetime ban if a few years down the road when not many remember what happened, and you have gotten your popularity back, you can just come back?

Nik,

Do you not know the difference between being an annoying kid and getting banned for no self control (Paulson) and using trust and freindship to get others kicked off or driven away from the boards when you're actually full of sh^t the whole time (Dennilfloss).

Like I said (and you can check his confession thread or others before that and we've both been around forever so you would know), I never fell for his crap. Saw that 1K other times on Usenet and BBSes before WWW was even being worked on. He was creepy, but if others were sucked in even though wiser people were telling them that he was a liar, so be it.

However, the reason for his permaban was a good one and I think it should stick. The fact that he still cares and wants back in so long after is an indication of his deeper problems.

So, can you answer me two questions? First, didn't DF accept the lifetime ban? If so, then why should he be allowed back?

Seems cut and dry to me...DF accepted lifetime ban, not a few years until it blows over ban...

*shrug*

you can learn a lot from him . . . as long as you know who you are dealing with.

Perhaps i can help with your confusion . . . if you can answer my related question, you will also discover your own answer:
WTF is the point of a lifetime prison sentence if years down the road you can get paroled?

edited to reflect your later post:
So, can you answer me two questions? First, didn't DF accept the lifetime ban? If so, then why should he be allowed back?
Convicts "accept" their lifetime sentence and then work for their parole.

What's the second question?

Not to sound like a snitch or something, but if you've read his comment from other forums he said it was never stated to be a permaban in the original thread.

Nope, I don't visit any other forums except a couple of Mustang forums, and DF is not on there.

I'm just going by what I remember from that time...

The mods stated the ban was permanent. The words used were close to "He will not be back".

DF had no chance to accept the ban, it wasn't his decision.

He's full of it. He was banned, permanently.
Edit: The term, "permaban" wasn't around back then. But it was clear that he was gone for good.
Also, the fact that he was a moderator here was a bit of an aggravating factor, huh?
