Should Dennilfloss be reinstated

Isn't it funny how this place has change. It used to be fun to come in and see what was happening. Now it seems like there are tons of threads about nothing but crap. It's hard for me to fathom how some of these people can have 10K posts in less then a year. I have a hard time trying to find 3 threads that are even remotely worth posting in.

Wombat Woman, now there is a name I haven't heard in a long time..

Probably because the mods would like to see some actual discussion on the topic. This has been brought up before, and has now come up again. He helped a lot of people on these boards, even though what he did got him banned.

It's sad that people have already turned this into a squabble-fest.

Well 3 years ago she was on death's door. I wonder if Flossie has killed her off yet?

I remember back before Flossie was exposed where he sent me an email with a link to Ars Techinica where another member of AT had posted a thread detailing Flossies deceit. He pleaded with me to defend him against such outrageous accusations. He had be so fooled that I did post over there trashing the guy who made the accusations. It wasn't until Rio Rebel, another long time member whom I have the highest regard for, looked into the accusations from an unbiased POV convinced me to check into those accusations more thoroughly before I actually smelled a rat. All this time though Flossie denied and then denied it even more. Unfortunately for him someone came across those pics of the alleged NoWhereMom at a porno site. When confronted with that evidence Flossie still denied his guilt by alleging that those Pics were taking of NoWhereMom but her abusive ex-husband against he will. However by then the gig was up and with a lot of pressure from a lot of old timers he finally admitted his guilt.

Now a lot of people would say that this is a case of a fantasy getting out of control and they would be right. But to take the trust of those who are suppose to be your friends and use it to cover up your lie and in doing so knowingly cause others grief by alleging that it was them who were liars is total BS. I was suppose to be one of his good online friends yet he didn't think twice about manipulating me to help him cover up his deceit. Nice friend huh! After all was said and done I personally had to make about a half of dozen "Me Culpas" to those whom I trashed in defense of that weirdo.

Now I've gotten over the anger of his deceit a while ago but I still believe he is a manipulative individual. If you want an example of it just look at many of those who have posted in favor of his reinstatement here. They are friends of his from the Giggly Grinch Forum who are here posting in his favor due to a thread he created at Giggly Grinch talking about his reinstatement and how he hoped that he would be let back this time (it seems he has been petitioning the Mods for reinstatement over the last 3 years). It kind of reminds me of how he manipulated me to take up his cause when he was about to be exposed for the duplicitous weirdo that he really is.

Finally I remember when he was finally exposed and with tremendous pressure from other finally admitted his deceit. I guess he petitioned the Mods for one last post where he said he was extremely sorry and that he accepted his life time ban and that his only wish was to be forgiven by those whom he betrayed. Well it seems he has gotten his wish as most of us who were pissed have gotten over it. I associate with him over at Giggly Grinch on occasion and I haven't a problem with him there. If he's let back in here I probably won't care that much either. But you all should know who he really is before you before you expound on what an asset he would be to these forums as it could be you whom he deceives and manipulates the next time.

I think these words are important. They hold some raw emotion, and are said in such a way that offers thought on the whole subject rather than outright judgement.

Wow. I never knew. I left a few years ago and never really came by much except to ask for help on a PC question or 2. I had no idea what transpired. I used to go over to Heathers boards as well but have not been there in at least a good year or 2 as well.

Sounds like Dennil burned a few bridges.

If he really wanted back here, he could have signed up with a new name long ago as his IP range most likely has changed since then. What he wants is to sign up using the name Dennilfloss again, which would be wrong IMO. That online persona caused alot of grief for many members here. If he signed up using the same name it would be just a matter of time before trouble started.

I believe if he is sincere about rejoining Anandtech, he would be willing to go under a new name and start fresh and gain respect the old fashioned way, by earning it.

Surprised to see this topic stickied. I don't care if he comes back but I wasn't involved in the drama, I think it was just before I signed up here, so I don't have strong feelings about it. But I was here to see a few others perma-banned like Texmaster, PCResources, Elledan, Jerboy, Shinerburke, Ultra-Quiet and maybe a few others I am forgetting. I never liked the idea of perma-ban, maybe a six month time out so they can re-adjust their perspective but not permanent. The only members I would like to see perma-banned are those that sign up just to spam something or those that sign up just to intentionally troll the forums.

BTW, I'm not sure if some of those I mentioned were perma-banned (like Elledan and Jerboy) or if they were given a vacation and just never came back. In any case IMO, anyone who's been away for a good length of time that wants to come back should be allowed to. It's just an online forum here after all.

Edit: And why is Ultra-Quiet (spelled like it should be without the hyphen) a banned word? I couldn't post with the proper spelling of Dave's nick. Are we not supposed to even mention his name any more?

So what? If the losers can't get over an internet prank after *five years*, then that's hardly his problem. If that's really the way it is here I understand his not wanting to come back.

People thought my first post of what happened to me was a joke because the dennifloss incident was still very fresh (I wasn't familiar with that story at the time).

Many people confirmed my story with both my Attorney and the Attorney General's Office first before confirming it was real.

I see this is a stickied thread so it appears the Mods are genuinely looking for opinion of whether to lift the ban.

We only live once and no actual person was harmed so I vote for lift of ban.
