FWIW, I would have no problem with his coming back. If anyone is still upset at him over what he posted on a forum five years ago, they need to seriously get a life.

I personally wasn't really too into the whole situation back then. I remember Denni as being a good addition to the forum though. I'd say sure.

Oh, blodhi74, you are such a whining little b!tch. I too enjoy Nik's hobby of pissing poeple off on here, and I partake in it myself.

Same here which is why I don't understand the sticky. If the mods are ok with letting him come back then let him come back. Fvck the drama queens.

We are not all ok with letting him come back. Some of us are for it, some of us are against it and some of us don't care one way or the other.

acutally this thread is misleading. it should be renamed "should dennifloss be allowed to go back to using his old username?"

No.

The only thread I really remember was the lumberjack diner one, but it was all a lie. At the rate this place is sliding down the internet drain, the morons will probably vote to lift his permaban and we'll get more of the same sh!t eventually.

There should be a poll.

Which is exactly what you are going to get in this thread.

At the very least there should be a poll.

I really don't think he is/has been posting under a assumed name on here.

If he was, and he was getting away with it, I don't think his coming back would be a issue.

And IMO the fact that he HAS been excepting his ban and NOT trying to "sneak" back in should count for something in his favor.

And I think his staying banned would be even less of an issue!

If it's all about using his old name, then emphatically NO! To do so is to intentionally reopen old wounds. It tells that he has intent to regain his former status, which in my opinion demonstrates an illusion; and therefore no change in character. I doubt many people (i.e., current members) give a damn anyway--much to the surprise of the few who make a big deal about the past and formerly important member. However, it's intent and willfulness that always matters at the end of the day. If he already has an account under a different name, there's no reason he should request his old name. Rather, what he should reqest is a pardon, so he could return to a normal membership under his new identity without fear of being reproached or banned if he's found to be "that member formerly known as Dennilfloss".

P.S. I too wondered why this thread was stickied.

There were some concerns from members when Denis joined my forums. (Members that were also members here and knew of his past.) My point of view was that I would allow him to join and see what happened. He's been fine over there. He posts regularly. I, however, cannot make up anyone's mind over here as to whether or not to let him in. He hurt a lot of people here. I understand that completely. The whole thing happened right after I joined these forums, so it really got me that someone died. (Well, I thought someone died.) I didn't even know people that well then. I believe I thought it was a joke or an April Fool's thing.

I don't know if any of this is making sense. lol Basically I'm saying, I suppose, that he's been fine so far at my forums, but I completely understand and can appreciate those who would be reluctant to let him back in here. It really hurt a lot of people.

My $.02.

Dennifloss was given a life sentence. There are a million other internet forums out there for him to post on. Why is this a debate?

The Register article, the original hoax thread, and the confession thread should be added to the OP.

I wasn't around for the original incident, but the fact that someone would even do something like that really says something about their character. The fact that in the confession post he explicitly stated that he cried over the death of this fake person reveals something disturbing, perhaps even sinister. It is true that in time, pain fades while the scars remain, but I can only imagine how deep those scars run for those who genuinely were stricken by grief. Their sympathy, concern, and good will were cheated.

Personally, I'm one to move on, and his presence on the forums couldn't possibly be any more corrosive than some of the crap that goes on today, but I think the people that decide whether he has an official comeback should be the ones who really knew who he was, which is a very small number, considering how many reged members there are today.

After taking the time to read this thread, the old linked threads, and the register articles, I would say that it would be ok to allow him back on this forum, as others have mentioned, alot of crap goes on.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't agree that he should be allowed to have his old name back, it would make about as much sense as letting him post back under Nowheremom. There is no reason for him to be allowed that nick back again IMO.

If he is a productive member then I welcome his posts, under a new name.
