Should I buy a GForce 2

I have a C366@550, Abit BM6, 192megs, Stealth III s540 with 32megs stable by the way. I would like to know if I should get the GForce 2 now or wait 6 months to upgrade? I was going to wait but Best Buy has a no interest till 2002 special for the next three days. I could spread the payments out nicely with that. Also should I get the 32megs or the 64meg if I get it? One more thing, would there be any compatilblity problems with my system, and which brand is the best or are they all about the same? Thank You.

How much gaming do you do? How happy are you with your gaming? If you're not, you may want to try for a geforce2. I'm not too sure how limited it w/ be w/ a 550mhz processor tho. As for 32 vs 64, well.. this comes down to can you afford it or not. And most of the cards are more or less the same. Some just overclock better, may have better software bundles, and tv/out and such (dunno which has what myself tho).

If I were in your shoes (which I kinda am, I was debating buying a geforce ddr/2 but decided against it, i needed money for other things), I'd look at what games you play and how often. For me, it just wasn't worth it, yes, i'd have bragging rights, but I haven't been at a LAN for so long to push those rights Also saving for the duron/t-bird w/ a DDR mobo upgrade.. hehe.

I bought a GeForce2, Creative Labs and absolutely love it and it was the cheapest name brand I could find. However, I'm more than getting my money's worth out of it as I do alot of high end professional 3D programming on the side and play Q3A non-stop when I'm not doing that. If I were you, I'd wait until the end of July and get a GeForce2 MX for less that $150. They should be easy to find and should be an excellent price vs performance chip that would fit in nicely with your celeron.

$150 is a great deal and it is still great FPS.
Usually less than 20 FPS loss between GF2 and GF2 MX

Get the MX it looks great bang for buck

Your CPU would probably be limiting your performance more than your video card, so as the rest said, go for the cheaper MX

Go with the MX, your processor will limit a GF2. An MX is only $120 and you can't beat that for the performance you get.
