why lease and lose money? I just want a car with a warranty that is comfortable and fun to drive with decent power. I never understood leasing to be honest. Plus I'd rather own my vehicle so I can sell if need be (worst case).

I honestly don't really hoon the STi or Miata around anymore, so I find myself thinking whats the point? I haven't autocrossed in almost two years.

I know its a shit load of money, and I do kind of worry about the maintenance costs once warranty is up. But European delivery would be so awesome to do on our honey moon and it would be a good souvenir from Europe to kick off our marriage. An M2 would be nice, but it isn't out yet.

Personally, I wouldn't get an M4. I agree with getting a proper German auto, like a 911. Or, if you want to be a bit more practical, it would be acceptable to get a Cayman.

I DD a 2014 Cayman S; it's a ball to drive, crisp and light with enough power to keep my happy on the road, but it's far from practical . A 911 is a little bigger and has a back seat, so maybe it's a tad more practical.

Actually if I could only have one car it would probably be the Macan, fun to drive, enough room for stuff and one of the best looking cross-overs ever made IMO.

Just trade it in after 4yrs/50k miles and you don't have to worry about it.

I drove a m235 when they first came out, I was going to trade my M3 in for it, I liked the size and it has a great power band for a DD, but I didn't care for the way it rolled in the corners and I wasn't impressed with the brakes. But then again I was coming out an M3 so maybe my perspective was off.

If you want to buy an M4 to make your honeymoon and trip nice, that's not a good reason to buy a car.

If you lived anywhere other than Hawaii I would think you are doing fine, but really there isn't a way you could stretch that cars legs on the island imo.

Cayman S for the money over the M4 unless you need the more practical sized car for people

You can't really stretch anything out here that's part of the problem. Maybe we will just fully load a 228i. I don't know many sti guys getting the m235i though. Maybe we'll save up for an M car in a few years.

We need a rental car in europe so I figured we could just sell it when we get back

Drive both. I went with the 228i over the M235i. The N20 is plenty fast for my needs. M Sport trim is a must though.

Though in your situation I'd be looking at 4 doors if you're replacing all those cars for one..

We really don't use 4 doors and a 3 series is too big for a car my wife might drive on occasion. The 3 series felt huge when we sat in it. My local dealer doesn't even have a 228 on the lot though. We don't plan on having kids for another 5 or 6 years anyway so a coupe is fine for now.

My train of thought is that I usually get bored of my car at about 3 years. So if every 3 years I can get a new car for next to nothing down and just a monthly why not. Otherwise if I purchase the down/payments are way higher.

The m235i is not even that much more than a 228i with same options. We save about 7% by picking up in Europe but idk if I should pony for the M4. It's a tough decision

i don't know what you guys are smoking, I have a 991 911 Carrera S and while I could DD it there is no way its a practical car. Weekend and track car only.

as far as the OP is concerned, M4 all the way. Every time I settle and make a "practical" decision on what is really an emotional decision I regret it later.

Wait, what? If your limit is $50k, you should have NEVER considered the M4. The M4 starts at $64k...You should've looked at the 428i or maybe the 435i (close to $50k).

If you do ED and get the base model with manual trans it's only about $62

And no we stuck with sensatech. It feels more soft and would be easier to clean

We decided to get rid of her civic, and the foz, probably the miata, but keep the sti for now.
