Should I buy OCZ EL PC4000 Gold VX

Hey guys!!

This is my first post on these forums and I have a question. I currently own OCZ Premier Series 2x 512mb PC3200 DDR400 2.5-3-3-7 and would liek to upgrade it to something much better. My 2 top choices are :
OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Platinum Rev 2
OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 Dual Channel Gold VX

I dont know whcih one I shoul dreally buy. I know that VX is a beast but it needs high voltage but Rev2 does not. I have ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe which I researched and it supports up to 3.0V of dimm voltage( I could be wrong, please correct me). Since 3V is the maximum I can puch will I be able to over clock my AMD Athlon64 3500+ from 2.2GHz to about 2.4 with no problems with the voltages since VX needs alot? Dont worry aboput cooling since I will be getting ZALMAN cooler along witht he RAM. Also if you think about OCZ RAM booster than forget about it because I checked and it does not support my mobo.

Maybe there is some other powerful ram out there that I dont know about, please speak up. Since this is about RAM i want to ask is it worth buying the OCZ GOld series or platinum which come 2x 1GB ?

My specs just in case:
ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe
AMD Athlon64 3500+ 2.2GHz stock, want 2.4Ghz+ OC
ASUS Extreme N6800Ultra 2DT
Antec TruePower 550W

if you're talking about 1:1, get the rev2. For the 4000 vx to show its full potential, you need the dfi ultra-D or better. Besides, ram has no effect on your cpu overclocking, b/c you can simply run a memory divider.

memory dividers is the part I didnt get to, any tutorials?

Yes I would like to run 1:1 ratio. Which will be faster on my mobo?

Memory dividers are for, say, you have your FSB at 233, so your ram is running at 466 mhz. That's great if it's stable. Later on though, say running FSB of 305, unless you volt to the MAX and have loose timings, your ram probably won't be stable at 610 mhz, so you put a 2:1 divider in so your RAM is running at 305 mhz also (actual ram speed is 2x FSB because it's DDR).

Ohhh I see what you mean. The speed of the ram is 466/2 and 610/2 so it still equals the FSB.

So when it 1:1 lest say your FSB is 250 and your ram is 250mhz( running at DDR500 since 250*2)
Am I right?

So even with using dividers I still should go with Rev2?
