Should I buy "Steel Battallion?"

Steel Battallion is that whacky mech-combat game for Xbox that costs $200 and comes with a giant controller with 2 sticks and a host of buttons.

Has anyone played it? Is it any good?
I will get an Xbox eventually, but everytime they re-print this, I'm always afraid it will be the last time and if I wait, I will be relegated to paying like $500 for it on Ebay in a few years.

I have a penchant for games that require specialized controllers, so this fits right in....

The reviews I have read seem favorable.
What are your opinions?

for some reason i doubt anyone on this forum owns a 200 dollar game. let alone an xbox game.

I don't own that game, but I was able to play it once. My opinion is that if you are a *super* hardcore, mech-freak-fan... and love, DEEP simulations... then you will probably not regret getting this game. You must fall into both of those categories for me to recommend it to you. Your fetish (heh - for lack of a better word) for crazy controllers is not enough for you to get this game.

On the plus side... I think that this game will mostly retain a collectibility that will fetch most of the retail price, even years from now. So you could practically "rent" the damn thing for a year or so, and just sell it for maybe $150+ when you're done with it. Much better than the depreciation on a typical video game.

I like deep simulations, especially the ones that border on "unplayably complex." I'm not a hardcore mech fan, but I don't have any aversions to big robots lumbering around shooting each other....

I read that the expansion is much better. Fog distance in the first one is very short.
