ok soo i have this stock computer http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId... the only thing i added was a 550W psu, zotac GTX 760AMP and a ssd and two HDD. so the Mobo i have right now its crap and with the cpu which is a amd phenom ii x4 960t, it gives my 760 a bottleneck. i get 60 ish frams on low, on BF4. so i got $170 and plan to spend it. my idea is to take the Mobo and cpu and replace it with this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DQO9L1Q/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_n... Mobo and this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009O7YORK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_n... cpu. soo tell me is worth it, will i really get more fps and not Bottleneck me, also if you have a better idea on what i should do let me know but keep in mind no higher then $170, Thanks!

The FX6300 has similar or slightly faster per clock performance to the phenom, and should be overclockable to 4+ ghz fairly easily. So you could probably get in the range of 40 to 50 percent better cpu performance compared to the stock phenom. Will the FX6300 fit in your current motherboard? 60FPS in Battlefield 4 is not that bad though. Unfortunately if BF4 is your primary game, you would have been better off with an AMD gpu. You could have used mantle to lower the load on your cpu.

Your copy of Windows may complain if you replace your mobo. To Windows that's what makes your computer your computer and not any other.

Your first link doesn't work, so I don't know what your computer has currently. But the 960T is an AM3 CPU, while the FX is an AM3+. Might make a difference depending on your mobo.

If your mobo can't take an AM3+ CPU, I have two ideas. You could get a used PII X6 1045T, which should in theory work in your mobo. A little slower per core, but two more real cores, should make a difference in BF4.
Unfortunately if BF4 is your primary game, you would have been better off with an AMD gpu. You could have used mantle to lower the load on your cpu.
Or you could get a new R9 280 GPU. Though I don't know how much Mantle would help your current CPU.

But please do post your system's specs. If the mobo is better than average you might be able to use some better CPUs.

Just to be clear, I wasn't recommending he try to sell the 760 and get an AMD card, at least unless he can sell it for close to what he paid. The money spent would be better saved and put toward a cpu upgrade. Even with mantle, a 3.0ghz phenom 2 is a slow cpu.

The problem is that if the 170.00 is a hard limit, it is not really a sufficient budget for an optimal cpu/mb upgrade. The best overall upgrade would be to an i5, but that will cost in the 300 dollar or more range. The next best upgrade would be to an FX8xxx. This will be cheaper, but still probably well over 200.00. I just have mixed feelings whether the FX6300 or an X6 is a sufficient upgrade to warrant the cost and trouble.

And as you mentioned, I forgot about the windows license. If the mb upgrade requires another windows license, the budget is totally insufficient.

Another potential wrinkle is that mass-market HP computer may not (probably doesn't?) use a standard set of independent front panel connectors, but rather a single molded piece which may not be the correct pinout for an aftermarket motherboard.
