Has Dell brought back all of their support, or is it only the business side of it?

Except the fact that anyone who calls tech support won't be able to understand them, will get fed up and change to another company.

I'm looking right now to find a company in India that offers the same services you are, but for less. When I find them, I'm buying from them.

Hey, we're going to a world economy. No sense waiting.

There may be some truth to that statement, but it's really just conjecture. Of course in that situation it really ends up costing more in lost business but until you try it you won't know if its a valid concern or not.

The world economy will be horrible for all countries involved. It is giving up developed nations' jobs for undeveloped nations' environment.

When you give a corporation the option of doing something cheap and dirty, they WILL do it cheap and dirty.

Why get a call center in India?
Cheaper you say?
Not when your custommers have to call, and get Habib the non-english speaking "specialist" trying to help them by reading some script.
And what ever you do don't have them try to act like they are in the states, nothing worse than getting: Hi I'm "Steve" , when it is all too obvious that you just got some-one in a call center in Bangladesh or Punjabi.

Yes it does.

When the US and other countries mainly purchased US goods, did you notice how quickly we built up? When we started outsourcing everything, did you notice how our workers lost their jobs? And at the same time, do you notice how quickly those cities in India are building up? What money is funding the modernization of Indian cities?

The money is leaving our economy and entering theirs. They aren't obligated to buy US goods in return.

Called up their sample number. They spoke English very fluently with no accent.

Typical bait and switch. The purpose behind the "sample" number is to make you think all reps will sound like Sally and Jim from Nextdoor, USA.

Of course those could be their half dozen good agents. If they lowered the quality later on I would know about it and cancel. But if it's good enough for [insert major computer company] it's good enough for me.

Good attitude there. If it is good for huge super companies that constantly get roasted for their bad support, it must be perfect for anyone!

Don't waste your time.

Half of these idiots don't know that most Indians speak better English then themselves.

when other countries start purchasing US goods, the US built up quickly. Its true of any country that if they are exporting a lot of goods, their economy grows. However, keeping jobs here purely for the sake of patriotism in no way shape or form contributes to the consumption of US made goods.

Rather, other developed countries will jump on the outsourcing bandwagon and or developing countries build infrastructure themselves.

yes when jobs becomes obsolete, workers lose jobs. people should get in to a different field, get more education.

US unemployment is not that high. if you compare unemployment rate now to the golden age of american economy, I think you would find that its not that much higher. yeah, call center jobs are gone. steel mills close. manufacturing closes. but people move on and survive. they have to.

an artificially created environment in which jobs are kept here purely because would be idiotic and would only increase the prices of US goods, making us less competitive with the rest of the world.

That just means that the North American economy must adapt to provide what others cannot compete with. I don't think you should feel guilty about ousourcing as long as you take ALL the pros and cons into account. Things to to consider:
- How much will I save?
- Will quality be on par with my current service?
- If quality is lower, will it be sufficiently high to retain my customers?
- Will my customers take exception to my using a service in India and switch to a competitor?

If you think you can come out ahead of the game, then by all means go for it. Just remember that there's much more to the equation than the bill you get from the answering service.
