That's extremely lame. But yes, you can navigate OS X via the keyboard only.

Yea but IIRC you need a third party utility to to navigate via the OS via keyboard only and even then it's very ineffective. I could use Windows XP for a month with out a mouse, but I'd be sad because then I couldn't game

Are you sure? I used navigate just fine with just the keyboard. Navigate the dock, menus, folders, pretty much everything.

I could use xp without a keyboard probably for a really long time. My computer is too slow for any games (Pentium 3 600mhz). Well, I only play neo geo game roms but I have a game controller for that.

Is that with the 'cursor feature'?

my mac isn't a pc, it's a ppc.

otherwise, you're just a troll.

apple key for life! everytime i use my pc i get annoyed that the alt key isn't the apple key, because it's so much easier than reaching for the control key. anyway, i'm slowly learning all the keyboard shortcuts, altho i'm not sure why i'd want to give up my mouse for a month, but i guess i could if i really needed to.

Not nearly as predictable as the moron who tries to rattle the cage. Same lame ass attempt everytime. At least you admit that your attempt was stupid. Some of you asshats can't even get that far.

LOL as if. A troll? Hardly. I don't troll I just made a joke as people tend to do from time to time. I'm sorry you're not willing to extend a person enough latitude for such conversational tactics. It's not like I come around here bashing Mac's every day, I made a joke and the super-sensetive Mac people who pretend their machines are not PC's broke it down sentence by sentence telling me how wrong I was. Did that look serious? I was kidding around for the sake of my brother who IS a Mac Person. I said this a couple of posts ago and I'm still getting bashed and called names. Trust me, you will be happy to know I won't make that mistake again. I have fewer than 150 posts and that was the FIRST one about Mac's. If it's that dear to your heart, then by all means, have it and do not let my momentary lapse of seriousness stand in your way...

We won't. Where did you hear me say the Mac is not a PC? Of course it is. What's the big deal about that? Or was that statement for your brother too?

BTW- I apologize for confusing your humor with ignorance. They looked the same.

You can joke all you want for the sake of your brother (whatever that means) but when none of us know him.... why would we care? All I know is you had some comments that needed to be cleared up, regardless of it being a comment for your brothers sake.

I didn't nor did I claim to. I never said it was a big deal but all the 'mac' people I know seem to have a problem reconciling that in their mind. I'm glad you are not one of them.

BTW- I apologize for confusing your humor with ignorance. They looked the same.

Very kind of you. Would you like me to tell you what I confused your posts with? I don't think you do.

I think I've been pretty clear as to my intentions. As soon as I saw the direction it was going (my 2nd post in this thread) I pulled back and said I was just kidding to not take it seriously (though I have a hard time seeing that being taken too seriously) and I also said to enjoy your mac's, it's your money. Did I not? So what's with the continued aggression? Let it go. I told my brother this would be the result. He disagreed. He gave you guys way too much credit. Since you had to know...

i said it and i'll say it again. my mac isn't a pc, it's a ppc. now, my new mac will be a pc (of sorts, still efi instead of bios, but that's splitting hairs). but the mac i currently use won't run windows.

when you come into a thread where someone is asking advice about buying a product and you start spewing all kinds of nonsense about the users of said product you are going to ruffle feathers, joking or not. 9 out of 10 times it's a troll trying to start a flamewar. if you are the exception, good for you i guess, but it gets the same result either way.

not as he is trying to convey. yes, it's a Personal Computer, but PC hasn't meant that in quite a few years. PC is now windows these days.

I could care less your opinion of my posts.

So let's get this straight- you told your brother you were going to post junk in a thread where someone was laying down a 1k+ investment and wanted advice before doing so, you told him you were going to call all Mac users "not smart enough to know about computers" and you accurately predicted that the Mac users here would deflate your useless posts (escpecially useless given the OP's context) and that we would'nt be nice to you when we did it. Congrats, you need to find out how Cleo got started; whatever you are doing now doesn't suit you near as well as predicting the future would.

I also said to enjoy your mac's, it's your money. Did I not?

Let's assume I say-

"Enjoy being an asshat, it's your life."

Since I said "it's your life" did that diminsh the fact that I said you should enjoy being an asshat?

Move on and quit defending the fact you stepped into a thread where someone wanted advice about an expensive purchase and you decided to make numerous "stupid" (your words) remarks for no other purpose than to play a cute game with your brother. That's called being a troll. Your worthless junk was deflated, you've been called out and ridiculed enough. Move on, you obviously have nothing of value to add.

Ridculed? By whom? You? Please. You do not possess the ability. Did you read the thread? By page 2, I believe, the Original Poster said he bought a Mac, hated it, and took it back. So the thread was long dead by page 4 when I made my joke. Someone had already begun the PC/Mac divide and my post warned PC users that Mac Users are INCREDIBLY sensetive (turns out I was right). Regardless, this is not your forum, nor are you any sort of authority. I do not need your permission or to introduce myself and everyone I know just to make a post. At this point, I'm just bickering with you because you decided to name-call and now you want to tell me where I went wrong. I hardly think so. Believe me, you are certainly not going to deter me from posting what I choose to post. I hope we are clear.

Uhhh, no. This is not how it went down. Suffice to say before any responses came in, I had spoken with him and was contemplating removing it due to his reaction. He got irrationally defensive. At first, he denied being defensive. But when I pasted his comments back to him, he was surprised to see his own reaction. At that point, I had his attention because he had observed it as well. We continued to talk and he explained why he thought he reacted that way but insisted that normal people having a normal day would not be so defensive. Due to this statement, I left the post there and we decided to gauge the reaction. He owes me dinner and because of all this flak, I'm going to stick it to him. Definately some sort of surf and turf. So no, I did not post something negative just to garner a predetermined reaction. I posted it because the thread was dead, the bickering had already begun, and I saw alot of my brother in the Mac-camp. I left it up to make a point to someone.

Also, can we be honest and say that up until OSX that Mac was complete garbage? And that even OSX has had some issues, despite it being LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than OS9? I used to be the tech contact among the group of designers I worked with. My job, besides design (where I garnered real hate for Mac's), was to keep all those OS9 machines on the network. What a pain in the a** that was. Every single day there was trouble. From time to time, we would get the 'happy mac' error and the only solution was to reinstall the corporate bundle. So I don't think that criticism of OSX is completely unwarrented in the community due to tragic failures of the past. Just like Ford still doesn't get a break on the Pinto, the Mac still has a reputation.

Let's assume I say-

"Enjoy being an asshat, it's your life."

Since I said "it's your life" did that diminsh the fact that I said you should enjoy being an asshat?

Did you forget? You did say this. I guess you guys are discriminated against so much that you draw your weapons at the drop of a hat. I would never have even mentioned my brother or how it all happened had you just taken me at my word. I tried to comply with all of the attacks so you people would back off but even that did not work. At this point you are acting like, well, a child. The names keep coming.

I'll try one more time. Put your pistols away. I'm done with this topic. I did not hijack a thread, there was resolution 2 pages before I got involved. The 'war' had already started when I chimed in. I said I was kidding. I said my comments were meant to be 'stupid' (but that was really because I could tell how distressed the mac crowd was) and had no problem admitting that. I was looking for peace and this is what I got instead. Had you just said 'Hey Asshat, be cool and don't generalize like that' I would have been fine and could have explained all of this. But you chose a different tact and here we are.

I don't have time to read all of the above- can someone give me Cliffs?

Or better yet somebody just tell me if we are done bashing the Mac crowd in some weird HomeyFoos family-oriented way? I couldn't help but call the guy out for being a toolbox and now he wants to write a novel I have no interest in reading.

Correct, I am not looking for answers from you. I regret wasting time reading your first post and from there on have had this self guilt that the more I read your posts the more my time slips away. I don't want anymore self guilt, I just want to know if you are done with the monkey dance. I was hoping someone who wanted to waste the time could weed through your post and figure out if that was the case. Seems like everytime you say you are done, another smart ass comment (like the sock one) has to follow.

from the sounds of his post this whole thread was a joke to start with, or he's incredibly incompetent. or both. who knows.

Who knows, who cares? I read three of your smartass moronic posts before calling you an asshat (if you consider that being a smartass) so I doubt it. You came into this thread being an idiot, why not leave like one?

I thought Lenova had been building IBM laptops for a while now and all that happened was they officially took over? Or am I way off base?

Old thread but hey.. Lenovo have been building IBM laptops for quite a while now, and Thinkpad is still considered the flagship among portables. So many have expressed doubt that the quality will degenerate. Remember that for at least a few years it will be engineered by the same people, built by the same people and serviced by the same people as always.

Make no mistake, Lenovo payed hell of a lot of money to gain access to the most respected brand in the industry and they will do their best not to lose that position since it's their way to gain access to the American and European market.
