You're wrong...'67 Camaro is obviously the right choice.

Looks like I may be swapping out my 46" Sammy LCD for something else. I have a defective panel and may have the opportunity to start from a clean slate. I am entertaining the thought of getting a plasma, but from what I can see I am limited to 42" or 50" (too small, and too big). Why no 46" plasma?

Second choice is the 2007 Sammy LCDs. Third no TV until July and wait for the Sammy 81 series with LED backlight *drools*

Oooh! Here's a good one guys: how come some plasmas I looked at had what I would call compression artifacts you may call it something else, like a low bit-rate movie or something? I remember a neighbor's TV, which had a cable feed, the colors looked banded or just lacking smoothe gradation that it looked like a Photoshop Poster Filter was mildly applied to it(you know the filter I'm talking about). Is this a problem with the TV or the video source or did older plasmas suffer from this?

erwin were you looking at your neighbor's TV or the local a/v shop.

The picture quality is usually piss-poor at a shop since the signal has been split so many times.

If your neighbor had satellite there could have been a bandwidth issue happening.

LCD/Plasma should both have pretty good uniformity in the well-used brands.

I looked at both store and neighbor's TVs. My neighbor's plasma is a few years old. Not all the plasmas at the store had the problem but the samples I looked at had different video sources so I couldn't make a direct comparison. I just chucked it up to either DVD compression or the player. Again, my neighbors TV does display the same problem. I liken it to the difference in 6 bit and 8 bit LCD where you notice the bandings more with a 6 bit display. Which brings up another question: what's a good bit for plasmas?

Computer monitors have been happy at 16.7 millions of color reproduction. Wasn't there a study that humans would be lucky to differentiate that many colors? Now, why is it that plasmas have a 10 bit or in the case of Samsung, an 18 bit color processor, giving them billions more of color rendition? Would that be overkill? I doubt NTSC or HDTV are encoded with that many colors to begin with.
