Admittedly. But there is a reason of course a lot of people don't like the Wii U. With the PS4 and xbone out next month it seems a crazy purchase unless you absolutely must have some specific games.
Because they don't understand the concept of the console and/or are fanboys that trash it since it is not their favorite piece of plastic. Playstation 4 and Xbox One have the most boring launch lineups of all console generations, Wii U at least had some real diversity in genres of the games and just because the console had a small game drought then everyone started bashing it because it became a mainstream trend on the internet and those people did not even tried the console at some store. D:
I won't buy Playstation 4 nor Xbox One, both are boring consoles that lack innovation, refreshing games, new ways of interaction with games also to play online component of most if not all games on those consoles you need to be subscribed to their premium accounts also those two consoles can't be in vertical position compared to Wii U so you don't have a option to put the console in some narrow spaces or just for the looks of it. :\
I would need to chug 50-60$ a year for online, since it seems life cycle of these consoles are 10 years that equals to 500-600$ so literally 10 games. Compared to Wii U that you don't need to pay for online and other features and yes even though Nintendo is for now behind department of features involving online it exceeds with MiiVerse and screenshots that are captured directly from game without any compression except if the game is 1080p then it gets downscaled to 720p to reduce size of the image though then it gets a "free" AA thus the image looks better in quality.
People say the gamepad is a gimmick, its not. You have a built in microphone for chatting, you have a camera for video chatting, you have a touch screen that can act as virtual keyboard and a drawing board. People seem to forget some obvious factors when comes to consoles, Sony/Microsoft fans trash that it does not have that or that like Playstation 3/Xbox 360 though those console did not had that at their launch but several years after when it got implemented.
I am sick of double standards when comes to Nintendo, its like nobody likes them and like people want them to go away like they are too long in the industry and/or don't fit it at all so people want a homogenic console market with same types of games, that repetition, like they want ineptitude of the video game industry, its like wishing: I want another video game crash like the one in 1983... Its awful and crazy.
I don't know if people are just stupid or they are just xenophobic because Nintendo is different because they are not dudebro kiddie like Sony and Microsoft. I miss moments when games were really innovative, the golden times. :'(
