Wow, a Nintendo fanboy. I haven't seen one of those on the forums for quite some time.

I wish people would stop saying that because I am not nor it can not be supported since I never owned any games or platform from Nintendo so basic foundation to call me a Nintendo fanboy is not here. Because I give valid arguments and because I say positive things about Nintendo and their console is all of the sudden a fanboy behaviour, pathetic...

I don't want Nintendo to go away. I want them to stop wasting their time making crap console hardware and start publishing their game franchises (they do have some good ones) on real next gen consoles like the PS4 and XBO.

Oh... You are one of those casuals, I see and it seems you forgot some very important parts of history of video game consoles. You are one of those people that bash Wii U and actually Nintendo because they want to see a Nintendo game on their favorite piece of plastic and that is never going to happen and Wii U is far from being "crap" console since its engineering shows that it is a very balanced console with more than enough power with up to date API features that in conclusion stomps Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 while Xbox One and Playstation 4 nukes those two consoles.

Gap between Wii U and Xbox One and Playstation 4 is nowhere near as with Wii and Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Wii had like 1/20 of Xbox 360's raw performance compared that Wii U has 1/4 of Xbox One's raw performance thus gap between Nintendo and competition is shrunked drastically and because you think Wii U is not "real" next generation then Xbox One and Playstation 4 are neither next generation consoles plus those two consoles are basically micro-PC's so making hacks to cheat in games and plus it is x86 so writing a virus to destroy/infect those two consoles.

http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/PlayStation_3

Try harder, it cost 600 dollars and outsold the Wii U in the same amount of time by 6 million units. The cost gap between the Wii and PS3 was 350 dollars, the cost gap between the Wii U and PS4 is 100.

Do the Math.

You ask me to try harder while is there no necessity for me compared to you I did the math though you don't count other factors thus you need to try harder and do more research because predicting future of consoles based on pre-orders and PlayStation 3 sold that much because PlayStation 2 had a very large instal base... Nice try thought

Seems we have this debate every so often here in the console forum. Honestly, I don't know why the Wii U is doing as badly as it is. Though I do have a few theories.

First of all, despite Regie Fils-Amie claims, the Wii U is not an 8th generation system. It's generation 7.5 at best. The same can be said about the Wii. However, people forget that the Wii was radically different from its competitors due to the motion controller. There's a lot of people who under-appreciate how much of a landmark title Wii Sports was. It was a the Wii's killer app, and it came at launch. I think the tablet lacks a lot of the charm that the motion controller had. Not really enough to attract the casuals that Nintendo is dependent on.

The Wii U is not only the second most expensive console Nintendo has put out, it's also a bit too similar to its competitors. Two systems that a lot of people already own. If they don't, you can pick up a 360 or PS3 for less money. Most of the Wii U's third party games are already on these systems.

The remakes and rehashing of old games is particularly worrying. Yes, New Super Mario Bros looks great in HD. But it's very similar to the Wii game. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's not going to sell consoles either. Both Mario Kart 8 and SSB will definitely improve things but Nintendo needs to start pushing unique content for the system. It's biggest flaw is it doesn't stand out from the crowd.

Vlad?

In any case it's very difficult to understand whatever it is you're trying to get at, I've done plenty of research. I suggest you do the same and post your results otherwise you are just looking foolish.

Wow. I'll just stop responding now because it's clear it won't help.

Nintendo's consoles are not just for Mario and Zelda, that is a dumb way of thinking and why don't look at other games on Wii U? Ninja Gaiden 3; Razor's Edge, Resident Evil Revelations, ZombiU, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Sonic Lost World, Bayonetta 2, X and other games...

@nextJin You continue with your failure, you must love how you fail...

Except how many of those games are considered tier one must have titles? None of them. The released ones off that list would be considered bad games on the 360 or ps3 and ninja gaiden 3 is actually.

Any other game that isn't first party has a better version coming to ps4 and xb1 if it makes it to wiiu at all.

Original Ninja Gaiden 3 is a bad game, Razor's Edge edition is a rework of original so it is in the end a better game than original Ninja Gaiden 3.

People bought Wii U for ZombiU so it was a one of must have titles on launch, Pikmin 3 had impact in Japan...

Super Mario 3D World, Sonic Lost World, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Brother's U, Bayonetta 2 and Monolith Soft's X are not out yet and saying they are not must have games is flat out ignorant...

Too much hypocrites here... D:

I just bought the Wii U 3 days ago. WW Bundle with a preowned copy of Nintendo Land for 14.99. I've owned every Nintendo system SNES and onward.

Buyer's remorse set in yesterday. I don't mind the lackluster power. I don't mind the lack of 3rd Party games. I don't mind the pricetag. What I miss is quality gaming.

Nintendo Land confirmed my underlying suspicion of the direction Nintendo will be taking with their first-party offerings. With the (overly) casual direction Nintendo is taking, they are aiming for an atmosphere where anyone can pick up a game and immediately play.

That's great in theory, to broaden your fanbase, but it ruins competitiveness.

SSB Brawl and MK Wii (both last gen) were guilty of this. Brawl introduced mechanics such as tripping, magnetic ledges, and "final smashes" to give inexperienced players a leg-up; and MK Wii was balanced in such a way that doing poorly was basically advantageous because of powerful items that were given to those in last place. Not to mention the rubber-banding AI speeds. Mario Tennis introduced 'Power Shots' or some garbage like that.

A better player at any game should win 100% of the time. That's not the case with all multiplayer Nintendo offerings at the moment, and it pisses me off. What incentive do I have to get to know a game intimately if it will artificially cap how well I can do vs the most novice of players?

I bought a Wii U because of blind brand loyalty, I'll admit it. I long for the days where Nintendo was edgy in such a way that they were both family-friendly and hardcore at the same time. Such is not the case anymore, and the new management over at Nintendo wouldn't know a good game if it fell in their laps.

Worthwhile games out now:
Windwaker HD
Pikmin 3
NSMBU + Luigi co-op

Coming out next month:
New Super Mario World 3D

Early Next Year:
Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze
Mario Kart 8

Late next year:
Super Smash Bros Wii U

Those are all the big first party titles. Third party titles coming include Bayonetta 2 and Project X.

Its up to you whether those are worth it.

You forgot about Sonic Lost World this month and ZombiU and Wonderful 101 are worth it... Its not all about Nintendo's games.

2 games with ratings in the 70's on metacritic. yeah, those sound like they are system sellers for sure...

/sarcasm

those being examples of "good games" on the wii-u are exactly the reason the system is failing. it's lacking quality titles (at the moment).

Ended up grabbing a 3DS XL

letting it charge at the moment, seems like a pretty nice piece of equipment.

It was a silly purchase, but hopefully I'll get some use out of it.

Pokemon comes out tomorrow. Great game, even if you aren't a kid.

Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario 3D Land are all great games as well.

Unfortunately for me, I don't think any of those are my cup o' tea

Never have gotten into much Japanese stuff other than Zelda. Which is why it's sort of stupid for me to buy Nintendo systems.

Can't really enjoy anything with turn-based "summon big monster attack" stuff.

About the only turn-based game I've ever enjoyed was Fallout.

People thought zombie U would be some fantastic showpiece for the system but it wasn't. People didn't buy the system for Zombie U, they got it free with the black console. SO lets breakdown how this worked. The WiiU has 4GB of memory for games and saves and comes in white. People didn't want white and it didn't sell and the 4GB is a joke. So people bought the black one which came with Zombie U anyway. Nobody was buying the game, it was a pack in. Must have? It's more like an everybody has it title.

Still a lot of people bought the game in stores and that bundle was limited run so yea...

The storage problem can be solved easily in a way, SD cards Class 10 if Nintendo allows usage of SD cards in native Wii U mode and Wii U's primary storage is based around SD cards in a way, flash storage?! Right? So yea, 100-200+ years to last. xD

VD is working on TPS for 3DS called Iron Fall and it will be 60FPS with AA filtering and they said that it will max out the usage of 3DS.

Let us know how the 3DS works out for you. Make sure you register for a club nintendo account - should be good for a free classic game which you can pick. Changes every month.

I'm enjoying this black 3DS XL so far.

I ended up buying Ocarina of Time (which I considered my favorite game of all time for years, and perhaps still is) via their eshop even though I'd already ordered a physical copy from Amazon.

I realized that the eshop may be the way to go for me because I have a certain cartridge I'd rather just keep in at all times (ahem) rather than swapping out other stuff. Nice to just have OOT within the system to play, and since I don't think I'll ever buy 4gb worth of games, I think it's a good way to go for me.

May return the physical one.

My black one came with Nintendo Land. I don't think ZomiU came with them for very long.

Call me once a new Metroid or Zelda comes out. Until then this system needs some more quality titles for me to buy.

You can try and argue all you want but it's obvious that the WiiU doesn't have enough good games. If it did, more people would buy it. Can't get anymore simple then that.

Actually the only real reason why people don't buy a Wii U because they don't know about it and/or think it is an add-on for the Wii and because advertising for the Wii U suddenly stopped and Nintendo moved to Direct's that are interesting but not for main stream audience.

It has games...

Not many.

Although the price drop and release of WW:HD boosted sales tremendously.

Pikmin 3 also pushed a lot of consoles.

As the games come out, it will pick up steam.
