cmon guys, a lot of the haters are now giving in. it's only a matter of time. nobody cares about the guy holding on to his "principles".

But if people bend over for them this time, next time you might not even get mouse and keyboard support.

Also if they get away with no dedicated servers, then more companies will stop bothering to make them and other standard PC features will also disappear.

Proving that you can be a sheeple is not much of an achievement.

The thing is there are plenty of games out there right now, games like DA where they actually put extra work into the PC version, so why should people settle for a game where the dev just didn't want to do anything to make the PC version work better on PC's. Sure the game is great at its core, but that is why people are so pissed off, they took a great game and wrapped in in shit.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if they merged the PC and console and forced us to play with controllers. They didn't put any work into changing matchmaking for the PC, you can't even type to people until you get into the damn game it's ridiculous.

I'm still torn on the game. I don't have the money to buy it now as Left 4 Dead 2 is the next game I'm buying. Hopefully when I'm ready to buy MW2 it'll be on the market for a few months and we'll all know by then if it's worth getting. I'm concerned about the potential cheating due to the lack of admins and the inability to ban/kick. Still, I'd rather have a crappy PC port than a 360 version of the game. I just don't like console gaming and I've given it chances. I'm actually good at MW1 on 360, but I still don't like it.

How much time do you need? The MP is basically MW1 but neutered (unless you just can't figure out how to join games on dedicated servers.) The single player is only 3.5 to 5.5 hours, so tons of people have finished and reviewed it or posted their impressions. Just read some reviews and decide if an excellent but short SP campaign is worth $60 to you.

How's the ping, those of you who bought it?

Err...I guess...how many green bars do you have?

So many silly things with this version, but the inability to get ping numbers and only tell by "connection bar" status is

3.5 to 5.5 hours? That's ridiculous. A game has to be as long as Crysis to justify spending $50 in my book, let alone $60. In case you're wondering, it took me a fair amount of time to beat Crysis on Delta first time through.

there may be several other games out there, but there aren't any that are FPS modern combat that are worth buying. If you've been waiting for a good modern combat FPS like I have, then you don't have much choice.

SP is great. Cool story, cool action, just like what I expect from a CoD game.

I beat it on Delta in 4 days. I wish it was longer as it was an excellent game.

I wish I could find this for $40 somewhere on PC. I just can't justify $60 for a 5 or 6 hour game. I have no interest in another multiplayer shooter.

They said it was to make it easier for people to get into games, and that people were complaining on their forums about hackers all over and not being able to find games and such. I'm not sure how these people failed so hard, I manage to find good servers within the first day of getting a game, and then from there on it's a small matter of jumping in one of your favorites.

The funny thing is they're calling the gamers who want dedicated servers a vocal minority, when their response makes it sound like it was a vocal minority on their forums who made them change it. In my mind if they really cared about gamers being able to play the game they would have put in both systems, it's been done on other games and works. Instead they choose to remove one very popular method because people are complaining in their forums...just seems so stupid to me.

This.

How about giving people options? Dedicated servers for people who care about the game they join and the ping rate they can expect. Matchmaking would serve the pupose of the stupid few who can't figure out to join the game.

This. The people who complain on the forums, are the people too lazy to find a good server. Admins usually kick hackers so fast its silly. I am proud to say I didn't buy this game. I'm waiting till steam has it on a weekend deal for 9.99

I'm not sure - I'm asking the question if it does or not. I don't want my steam account to link to games unless I tell it to.

It will ask during the installation if you already have a steam account, select no and create a new account...

After MW2 moves 4.7 million copies on the first day, I'm sure IW really doesn't care what PC gamers think.

But if they did, just a little, their sales would probably have been even higher.

If prices of older COD games are an indication, how long are you willing to wait? I think the lowest I've seen MW1 on sale at Steam is $25 +/- and it's two years old.

I'm going by what others have said, I haven't played it. If I remember correctly it took me about 5 1/2 hours to finish the first one, I think in Regular. A good rule of thumb is that it's just a bit shorter than COD: MW1, so expect to get a bit less mileage than that one. Part of it depends on your philosophy; personally I don't accept difficulty as a substitute for content, but some are content to play on harder levels. Unfortunately you can't play COD games tactically because they throw enemies at you until you cross phase lines, but if you're willing to die over and over and replay the same bits until you beat it, then you'll get a lot more play time. (I get bored if I'm stuck in the same spot for more than half an hour or so. Plus from what I read the co-op is a bit different, same maps but a different story line, so if you play coop you'll get another go around which may or may not be interesting to you; people seem to differ in opinion, but it can't hurt and might help.

Make no mistake, it's a great single player gaming experience; it's just a great single player CONSOLE gaming experience. If you think in 2009 that you should have the options of going prone or leaning, you'll probably not be impressed. If you think in 2009 that aiming should be important, you'll probably not be impressed. If you just want a great, cinematic shooter experience and don't care about that stuff, you'll probably enjoy it; nobody does heavily scripted cinematic SP like IW. My own decision not to buy it has nothing to do with the perceived quality of the game, but rather with not supporting a particular direction in PC gaming. As far as MP goes I think it's gains almost nothing over COD:MW1 and loses quite a lot, but if you only want to play for a few months, don't care about kicking cheaters and griefers, and/or are willing to buy additional maps, you may well enjoy that too.
