No i dont overclock, I have a weak psu. Also what what about a switch to a i5 3350P.

How weak? I would personally go up to a Quad-Core (i5 3350P). I own a i3 2120, 1035T and 960T. The 960T and i3 2120 are pretty close in performance in games. The 960T @ 4.0Ghz pulls away, but not by much. We are seeing more and more games become heavily threaded though. Going with a dual-core is no longer a good idea. What games are you playing anyway? Your 6 core may still be a viable CPU depending on the games.

3350P is a great upgrade for gaming.

but even the i3 will be a good improvement, 2.7GHz Phenom II is not that great.


if you have a weak PSU you should buy a new one, there are many good PSUs for under $50.

Really sounds like a 500w PSU. What games do you play and @ what resolution?

As a upcoming pilot, i use FSX (Flight Simulator X) which is extremely CPU based. I use a 1680X1050 resolution
I also play Fifa 13 which runs great maxed however FSX is poor (with addons in it)

Ok, looks good. If you can afford it I would go with the i5 3350P. FSX seems pretty CPU intensive, and I don't think it uses more than 4 cores.

Actually I have been reading that in some areas FSX can utilize a ton or cores- What model motherboard do you have? Can it accept AM3+?

And yes the i5 would be a big difference in this game.

Based on my knowledge i hear FSX doesnt use more than four lol. As a matter of fact I think people run the i5's on 3 cores for a higher overclock, but after all what do I know XD.

2.7GHz Phenom II with 32 cores would still be slower than the i3 for FSX...
(and the vast majority of games)

I ran FSX and those were the results. My budget is a low as possible for good performance and im looking at 250 for the CPU and motherboard. Also it is well know in the FS community that intel is much better than AMD for FSX.

I am seeing 4 cores being fully used and the other two not so much. Do you live next to a Microcenter?
