Should I get SATA hdd now or wait?

I would like to buy new hdd but should I stay away from SATA hdd or it should be fine? Which one would you recommend?

It's only several $ difference, go for SATA.
I like my Hitachi.

Go ahead and get SATA, as was mentioned there is not a huge price difference. As far as brand the only one I have any experience with is Western Digital. I have a 36gig Raptor and a 200gig from them and they both run fine.

The thinner cable is enough for me to pay the small price premium.

Do you find the Raptor very much better for the price? I keep seeing comments that people see almost no difference between PATA and SATA as it is.

I think it was worth it. Its pretty zippy. Most of the comments about PATA and SATA being about the same speed wise apply to all PATA drives...but the Raptors. If its not a Raptor all you really get right now is the thinner cable. Which is worth it to me. Plus other then the Raptors SATA drives cost not much more then PATA so I can't think of a reason not to get one these days.
