I'm thinking if i should upgrade to another motherboard, or just keep it....Do you think any performance if any would increase if i just upgrade my board?

Can you run at a fsb of 124? If yes do that and get a new Video card. GeForce SDRs are fairly inexspensive and if you can wait the new Nvidia MX cards look like great bang for the dollar.

Sorry-did nor really answer your question. Your current board is a very fine board and unless you want features not suooprted on it(133 fsb,ata66,agpx4} there is not much reason to get a new one. I am a big fan of Abit and the BX chipset.

If u aren't going to upgrade the CPU, BX6-2 would be the fastest mobo for your P3.

If u are going for a P3 "E" or Celeron128, stick with BX6-2. With the latest BIOS it supports all of them. And you may even try your luck with overclocking options in the Softmenu 2 in BIOS.

IMHO, only if the overclocking failed u'd need a new mobo.

There is almost no MB that would give you better performance than your current board.

The only reason to upgrade would be to run at 133FSB - and your BX board can do it now (only the AGP would be overclocked) - ATA 66 or 100 (and you can use a controller card), or a higher divider for your AGP if you intend to overclock and AGP 4x (which is a current waste over 2x).

Why not wait until you upgrade the CPU and see if any MBs available then make it a reasonable upgrade?

Why don't you overclock your P3 500 now? It would give you a free performance increase.

Trader05, don't worry - your BX board can handle any FSB including easily 133 (and maybe 150) but your CPU, vidcard or memory will give out long before then.

My P3 600E is currently running at 133FSB (800Mhz) on Abit BX6 rev2 with no problems.

Since your CPU is a Katmai, try increasing the FSB a step at a time while monitoring your temperature. Good luck.
