should I lap my new pep66t?

I just got this today to replace a cooler master. I was wondering if these alphas really need to be lapped, the surface is pretty smooth, smoother than my cooler master heatsink was. My dad, yes im only 17, can lap this thing for me really easy on a machine at his job but i have to wait for monday . I don't want to waste any Artic Silver II either. So my real question is anyone else with a pep66t see the need to lap it or do they come pretty smooth anyway?

Lap it. That way you want pull it off later because you werent sure if you should have lapped it!!!!

Hey,

Typically they'er pretty darn flat, but if your dad can get his hadns on a diamond-sander, or something similiar, by all means, that can't hurt performance

I think I'll wait it out. Anything that could boost performance is worth the wait. I'll try to find out what exactly my dad uses to lap this, hes done it to my cooler master with good results. Oh and good point Jawaki
