Should I re-apply AS5?

When I installed SI-120 I did not realize how hard I hard to pull the rentenion hooks down into the adatpor. I WAS pushing the heatsink downward while pulling hard on one corner and the opposite corner just lifted up. I didn't try to push TOO hard on the heatsink, I was afraid I could squeeze the poor CPU to death. Oh well, after I finally assembly the heatsink to place, I had lifted it off the cpu at least 4-5 times. ..... =(

But I do get like 31-32C at idle (w/o OC), right now I am OC'ing my 4400 to 2.7 Gig and the temperature is right around 50C (I mounted a panaflo Ultra speed fan on top of it and it's blowing at full speed), oh well....<46C would be very nice.

Do you guys think I should reapply AS5 and push down on the heatsink as hard as I can this time?

Do not push down on the HS as hard as you can. http://www.thermalright.com/a_images/pdf/SI-120_K8_US.pdf
Insert the rentention clips on one side (the side thats less accessible) by tilting the HS. Easily done with your hand. Once you have this one side in the latches, gently push down till the HS lays flat across the heatspreader...there will be tension as it will want to lift back up....hold it down....take a flathead screwdriver, insert the end into the little square hole on the opposite retention clip and push down (with some force) as you hold the HS in place, until you see the latch catch. Do it again to the other side. With the xp120, the side opposite the heatpipes are the clips you want to latch first with the tilting. Might be different with the SI. In any case, which ever clips are hidden underneath the Aluminum fins, this is the side you want to secure first. Then follow with the screwdriver. As for reapplying the AS5, I would, but its not mandatory. Hope that helps.

No. The retention clips have a little square hole on the ends. This is where you use a screwdriver (flathead larger than the actual hole), put the head in at an angle, and push the clip down till you see it catch. http://www.systemcooling.com/images/rev...nks/Thermalright_SI-120/image10big.jpg
In that picture, look at the retention clip...it forms a "V" shape... Follow the "V" from the HS base up to the left. You notice two rectangular holes? The smaller of the two holes is the one you use to push down with the flathead screwdriver. The latch/es on the right are the ones you hook in by the tilting method with your hand. Tilt the entire HS back (rock it in other words) till you can latch the 2 underneath all the Al fins. Then do as I stated earlier. GLuck and hit me back if ya got any ques's

Also its a good idea to put a handtowel of some sort underneath the HS area (on top of mobo) that you will be using the screwdriver incase you slip and decide to gouge your mobo.

Once you do it a couple of times though, I must say it is a cakewalk.

Sure if you can get it in there and have the strength to push it down.

Don't bother, the slot for the screw driver is there for a reason and its 100 folds easier if you use it. Don't put too much strength into pushing it down cuz its a matter of technique and not strength. its kinda like a gentle push down and out motion.

I just reapplied AS5, took a few tries to remove the retention clips, installation was a breeze. I put a little dab of AS5 in the center, with two clips already in place I gently pushed the other side down and put the remaining clips in place. Got it in one shot, hopefully I can see some drop in temperature in the next 200 hours.
