the prius is too small and would be a stupid choice based on someone who has the income to support a new M5 and X5. your suggestion of the car as a daily driver (from both safety and comfort standpoints) is ridiculous. its gas mileage is decent but a civic hybrid is a nicer car for a few dollars more and gets almost the same milage. however, the civic has the same problems as the prius, small and no anemities and unsafe. you can always get a used car like an e34 m5 or 540 6spd and sell your M5, or smaller truck (if you still want the speed get a lightning, if you want the AWD get an audi or something along those lines.)
your dismissal of the fx45 b/c it's a little brother to the x5 (assuming you are dismissing it b/c the fx45 is not nice enough?) is odd b/c a prius is a PoS. if you're concerned about the quality of your car you wouldnt be considering the prius, so don't dismiss the fx45.
if you don't want a another bmw then say so or get bad advice. i'd sell the x5 since it chews gas and performs "poorly" and get a daily driver. there are a ton of cars available but you need to decide what price range you want, what performance you want, the safety required, and what kind of car you want among other things (truck / suv / sedan).
if you want a quick fix, sell the x5 and get a 325ix or 330ix.
