Sprint is offering unlimited talk, text, data, $80 a month+taxes(about 15% i am told) and the Samsung Galaxy S4 for $99.99 with a 2-year contract.

Tested out this phone at the Sprint store and it seemed blazing fast compared to my crappy HTC Evo MetroPCS (please don't laugh) phone.

Paying $50/mo for MetroPCS, problem is the service is beyond terrible. 80% of the time i have no bars and no data connection. The phone only works decent on Wi-Fi. I swear there customer service dept is a bunch of 9-year old's overseas in some factory.

Don't care about a contract as long as the service is good, monthly cost would change from $50 to about $90.

Anyone have Sprint care to comment please.

EDIT: NOT SWITCHING TO SPRINT.

Uh, no. Go to T-Mobile. Unlimited everything is $70 and there's no contract. Sprint's service is molasses slow.

Yazoo, where in PA are you? I have Sprint and live on the West Shore from Harrisburg, I get LTE at work and at home, and it clocks in around 15Mb/s. In Carlisle, I have 3G, which is laughably slow.

Correct. However, there phones range from $300-$600.

Lord help your soul if you go with sprint.

Check your area for LTE coverage very carefully. You need to be blanketed by it to even consider Sprint IMO.

Implying that the Sprint phone is actually $99? It's not, you're paying for it with that contract. Nevermind that in general their service pretty much sucks compared to T-Mobile. And you could even get a Nexus 4 for $250 brand new and it'll work with T-Mobile.

yeah only do sprint if you can buy a SERO account from someone. Sprint in general sucks compared to ATT and Tmobile. Verizon is the best IMHO but they are pricey.

I am happy with Sprint service in general but I am only paying 50 bucks a month unlimited everything. If I were paying 80 or above I would probably bail to a GSM carrier.

from t-mobile.com:
LG Optimus F3 or LG Optimus L9: 240
16GB Google Nexus 4: 432
Samsung Galaxy Note: 576
Samsung Galaxy S4 or HTC One: 600

not implying anything, didn't know the 16GB Nexus 4 is $249 from google and is unlocked. my data use is mostly for email, nav and web browsing, so $60/mo plan may work out.

thanks for the info, appreciated.

Correct. However, there phones range from $300-$600.

So you are willing to pay $40/mo more over 2 years ($960 total), but not willing of paying $100-200 more for a phone upfront?

Get a Nexus 4 for $200-250 and use on t-mobile or att prepaid.
or a LG Optimus G (same thing as an S4) for $400 from ATT

If you go with the LG phone you should get it with ATT prepaid gophone, straight talk, aio wireless, or other.

Sprint's data probably won't be any faster or reliable than metropcs unless they have lte in your area. It will still be spotty probably in buildings.

I have yet to meet a person who was happy with Sprint and stuck with the service in my area.

We use Sprint at work. We are currently investigating switching off of them completely to AT&T or Verizon. Only reason we've stuck so long is their service is cheaper. Now that the control has moved from finance (bean counters) to IT we can make some headway.

Constant complaints. Most people barely get email which is essential since they are on job sites all day.

I wouldn't. Being CDMA, your choices will be severely limited if/when you realize that the service is not satisfactory. And Sprint doesn't have a sterling reputation when it comes to its networks.

What a silly question.

I have had Sprint forever because I am a cheap bastard. They suck.

No experience with Metro PCS but I am not surprised they suck, they market to poor people.

Never ever get Sprint. Maybe in 3 years after SoftBank tries to throw money around getting the network up to par with everyone else, but until then, I could never recommend them ever.

Lol didn't notice the part where you're on metro. Get a cheap gsm phone from them in store like the lumia 521 and you get to bum off T-Mobile network to try it out for a few days to see how you like it. If its bad just return it.

This, with Ghetto now merged with T-Mobile, you can switch to a new phone to use the better network.

Coming from a Sprint customer.... don't. I'm lucky if I can even connect despite having full bars. The 4G is spotty. I pray to have Wifi access wherever I go, which is sad. I'm only with them until my contract is up. They are cheaper than other carriers, but you have to ask yourself what you're paying for.

Unlimited data is useless when this is your speed:

Check out your area first on sensorly.com to see what other users are experiencing.

Yep $50/month for iphone5/gs4 with unlimited LTE does kinda rock.

Sprint just plain suck.
Speed is 100x slower than Tmo on 3G.
Tmo is catching up to Sprint regarding LTE.
I tell anyone I meet thats on Sprint to drop their service, get a Nexus 4 and jump on Tmo.

You really need to be asking people in your area for your area is going to consider your coverage.

This is my current sprint speeds and I am happy with the service

The second chart is my speeds in the same area 2 months ago with the same phone, in both cases these are 4g lte connections

See the difference the tech on the towers matters in both circumstances I was technically getting lte but I am getting much better speeds since july 30th. If you do not get lte then do not even bother with sprint

Note the speeds shown are kilobytes not kilobits
