Should I update my Asus NForce A7N266-E Bios?

I currently have the 101A Bios, I have never flashed my bios before and have read that you shouldn't do it unless your having probs. Well, I've got the normal No rear audio probs and the occasional freeze up during shut-down or reboot, also the computer will occasionaly flash a blue screen (not long enuff to read the error) and then reboot on it's own. It will generally only do this once then wont do it again till after I do a shutdone and startup (which could be days later with no probs in between). Should I upgrade to the 101B Bios. What improvements are made in this bios. Any known probs with it. Thanx for any advice you can give.

I only update the bios as a last resort. I don't see the 101b bios you are referring to. Normally they tell what things were fixed in that release. Have you tried the Nvidia unified drivers? Go to Nvidia and check them out. They might help with some of your problems.

Yes, I updated to the Unified drivers when they were released, the 101B bios has been out for awhile now, it is available at Asus's website.

Well, I would use caution. Kyle Bennett (from [ H ]ardOCP) mentioned in his review of the A7N266-E that driver/BIOS updates needed to be done at the same time. In other words different combos of BIOs'es and Drivers had great stability and others had worse stability than the others.

The description of 101A the bios I currently have, says:

A7N266-E BIOS Ver. 1001.A 12/27/2001
Improve IDE performance.
Support more CPU FSB frequency. (161mhz~172mhz)
Support the "My Logo" feature.

101B is the new release and has the following description on Asus's site:

A7N266-E BIOS Ver. 1001.B 01/09/2002
Support CPU Fast Decode Function in setup menu.
Support CPU FSB frequency 135mhz

so what is a Fast Decode Function and why does the FSB drop to 135mhz for the new bios?
