I've been contemplating replacing my 2400+ with a 3200+... is it worth it or should i just wait until i can afford to buy a new 939 motherbboard and cpu?

Unless you have a buyer for your old 2400+ and can get a 3200+ very cheap I personaly would just save up & wait for the jump to A64.

Can you run your RAM at 200 MHz? If you can you already have a 3200+... or higher... what is the default multi on the 2400+? Whatever is divide 2200 MHz by it to establish what you need your FSB to be and set the RAm to taht.

Yes, i have PC3200 ram. The main thing i'm looking at with the 3200+ chips is the amount of L2 cache, twice as much as my 2400+, which i'm sure will help quite a bit with the performance. Clock speed isn't that big an issue... As for the multiplier, it's 15, which would mean my FSB would have to go up to 146MHz to run at 2.2GHz. As i just said, clock speed isn't my main interest, and neither is overclocking.

Well, the extra 256k of L2 cache doesn't make a huge difference in performance. If that's your only concern, then I'd wait and make the jump to A64 as others have mentioned.

it's what I did.. I was in the same boat. 2800+ A64 is cheaper than a 3200+XP and would outperform it.
