Should i upgrade my BIOS and if so how?

Okay so i'm planning to buy a i5-3570k CPU, which is Ivy Bridge.
Is it compatible with my motherboard and its BIOS version? And if it isn't can i update it myself?

My motherboard: H61DEL S1155 H61 ATX

BIOS Version: "American Megatrends Inc. P1.00, 25.4.2011"

SMBIOS Version: 2.7

My OS: Windows 7

Need the manufacturer of your motherboard. If its from a Dell, HP, Lenovo etc most likely it will not be compatible. Regardless even if it is compatible it will not allow you to overclock a 3570k so getting one would be pointless.

The manufacturer is Asrock, is it ok? And why i cant overclock it?

It looks like it does support ivy with bios update. But you can't overclock a 3570k because only motherboards with a p67, z68 or z77 chipset will allow you to overclock a k-series chip. You have a H61 board.

The overclocking is not important, so would i5-3570k still be a good choise or can i get better for the same price?

I would use it with;

GPU: GTX 970 oc herculez
Power: Corsair CXV2 PSU 500W 12cm ATX12V2.3 80+

Yeah i5 3570k would be fine. Only chips above it are i7 3770 and 3770k. Both just add hyperthreading.

You read the manual to your motherboard and follow the instructions. If you don't have it you can download it from the homepage of your motherboard producer.
