so im in the middle of gathering parts to build a replacement to my 5 year old gaming rig. so far I have
6tb WD black HDD
cooler master h500m case
corsair 750w gold PSU
16gb gskill neo ddr4 3600 RAM
and I plan to get the following
fuma 2 cpu cooler
500gb sabrient rocket pcie 4.0
rtx 3080
next week I want to get a mobo, ideally I would like to get the ASUS x570 hero but $400 for a mobo is getting crazy. alternatively they have the ASUS x570 strix E for $300 which has the features I want and seems to be around the ballpark of most x570 boards so I am currently leaning towards the strix-e. I am used to ASUS and have never used a different motherboard, that's the main reason I am looking at them, plus I think they are great aesthetically. My plan is to buy a ryzen 3600 to tide me over until the 4000 series launches where I will get a 4800 ish CPU and use the 3600 in a mini-itx emulation/ console build later. my question is, would I be better off waiting for an x670 motherboard to pair up the 4000 series with? I am not seeing many improvements over x570 but everything is just speculation at this point. I am worried with x670 being their final iteration of am4 they might go "all out" and I would regret getting the x570. what do you guys recommend? I could wait but in all honesty once the case comes in next week I will probably lose what little patience I have left and just start buying the remaining parts unless something major is coming with x670. If you guys have other boards to recommend, the motherboard would need to have
at least 1 pcie 4.0 m.2
front panel usb c connector
argb header with software that works with coolermaster
as far as overclocking ability, I tend to toy around with it but I dont go crazy, I usually find a setup that wont go above 80C on air which for my current 4790k is around 4.6ghz so I do overclock but not by a whole lot, im more likely to overclock the gpu than the cpu.
