With all the problems confronting the country, this is the best the GOP can do? Crap like this is why so many Independent like me blame the GOP for the poisonous atmosphere and lack of bipartisan cooperation in DC.

Conservatives put up with stupid ass attacks on Bush on a daily basis, if you can't stand it when your guy is in power and making real stupid decisions such as acting like a foreign King's subordinate (and then LYING he did it), maybe you should go frequent Hot Deals instead.

don't be dumping your trash on us...

Fine. Just as expected.

Though, to me, I'm not so much disturbed that Pres. Obama actually did it inasmuch as it puts him in the same league as Bush, which bothers me a lot because it somewhat remotely alludes to an unknown entity that both Bush and Obama have to answer to, which while probably not being the case, did force me to connect some imaginary dots in this particular direction.

I think an over-enthusiastic handshake turned into a small bow. No intended symbolism apart from general good will and respect. It's a gaffe but such a non-issue.

So then why the lies?

I believe it was a "brush-off" lie, if it all. You know, the kind where they think it is just as insignificant as the allegation it is answering to.

also to the OP: considering that Saudi Oil owns the US, do you think it's somehow disengenuous for the POTUS, whoever it happens to be, to bow to the Saudis?

C'mon, think about it.

Ah, OK. Interesting.....as long as they deem it "insignificant", it is OK to lie.

You may want to look at who we import most of our oil from.

With regards to the bow, I see it as a non issue. Obama is showing respect to the king, if that nets us more support for our efforts in the middle east, great. If not, then so what? It's not like Obama gave the dude a blow job.

No actually he did and he swallowed and he shredded the constitution and peed on Kennedy's eternal flame memorial extinguishing it and simultaneously gave the middle-finger to mother Theresa's grave.

Why does the Administration deny doing it then?

Because commentators have decided that 'bow' means submit not respect. They made the decision for the White House.

Only if the Saudi King is bowing back...

BTW, has any other President done this before?

My understanding is NO.

Actually Bush Sr. gave a slight head bow to the Emperor of Japan while he was president, and he was excoriated for it.

A full bow to the waist is not a gesture of respect. It is one of subservience.

This isn't a really big deal in itself, just YAOG (yet another Obama gaffe) which goes to show just how completely inexperienced and over his head he is.
Yeah but the Real Bush got even by puking in the Japanese PM's lap..or at least that was the reason they gave for him bobbing his head on the guys lap:shocked:

I find it interesting that you have a problem with him respecting the gesture of one kingdom, but you say nothing of the fact that he did the same thing to the Queen of England. There are all sorts of rules like you can't touch her and other ridiculousness and she doesn't even actually have any political power.

1. He bowed.
2. Maybe he shouldn't have.
3. The white house is flat out lying when it says it wasn't a bow.
4. This issue is beyond minute in comparison to everything else going on, so let's let whoever wishes to be outraged be outraged.

Is anyone else reading this or am I laughing here alone?

Are you so amazed that people that support Obama can still call out his press secretary for a bold faced lie?

Bud, it's ok, Bush isn't president anymore. We're allowed to dissent without being called traitors.

Ok, then lets discuss about how Obama is changing very little in Iraq. Surely if this war is as unjust and illegal as you say it was, you could criticize him for that?

If by changing very little you mean withdrawing 2/3 of troops by next year and the remainder by 2011 pursuant to an agreement Bush made last November...

What more should he be doing exactly?

Nothing. If he were withdrawing troops more quickly, they would attack him for being irresponsible. Since he's withdrawing them more slowly, they claim he's not doing enough.
